Good local history, but I would have like to know more about the students in the first graduating class (1915, I believe). The boys would have been the right age to enlist in WWI - who were they, what happened to them? Pictures of graduating classes through the years, or by decades, would have added to the experience of this museum. Overall, worth the visit.

Local history museum. Gives an interesting yet odd perspective on the history of the town and I am not sure if they realize how odd that perspective is. Self guided walk through - don't go on a hot day!

It was a great museum! There were a lot of exhibits, and the building it is in, an old school, was great! We visited with our teenage daughter, and she loved it. For $9 (three people at $3 each) we were entertained for a good two hours or so. There are four floors of exhibits, which include a log cabin, doctor's office, dentist office, and a classroom, and the staff is very friendly and helpful. I would recommend this to anyone visiting the area. If you have small children, there is a park right out front!

The Museum For East Texas Culture is a great place to visit in Palestine, Texas. The 1915 schoolhouse houses exhibits and an authentic vintage class. Don't miss the actual Log Cabin in the basement! Lots of history, photos and information. Great place to spend on a rainy afternoon.
