Our river family have been staying at Don's Fish Camp for almost twenty years. We've seen his place grow and expand over the years. We haven't used his toob service because we bring our own boats (canoe & kayak). We camp beside the San Marcus River for $10 a person and porta-potties are close by. The camp is usually clean except for all the patrons that come off the river drunk and being knuckle-heads. The trash left behind is picked up daily and Don loves to visit campfires.

Easy access in and out of the river. The new gate / pay station makes it so much faster to get in. We come back again and again!!

Floated the river here...only problems are the long lines and the staff isn't at all friendly. Next time we will prob do one of the other places along the Comal

Recently visited Austin for a Bachelorette Party. We did the 6th street thing the first day and went to the San Marcos River the second day. And boy did we have a blast! The drive to Don's was about 30 minutes from Austin. Wasn't hard to find at all...just plugged it into Google Maps app. You pay for your tubes while still in your car...$15 each since we were "students." They direct you to park your car. We rented a cooler tube for $10. We waited about 20 minutes or so in a line for the bus. It was the day before Memorial Day so this was to be expected. The bus took us to the input point and tubes were already on the bus. We grabbed one and off we went. It was pretty heavy traffic the first little while of the float but then it spread out considerably. All six of us girls had a great time! Met many new people and made some memories. Would float Don's again and highly recommend it to anyone wanting a relaxing way to spend the day! P.S. Some of my friends have floated the Guadalupe and prefer this river over it! Just in case you're trying to decide between the two.
