Check this off the bucket list. Amazing time with the kids listening to some authentic country music outback. The store was a lot of fun as well. If you're in the area it's definitely worth the drive

We were staying in Fredericksburg, so we could not be this close and not stop. Population of 3 - yes, 3. General store/post office is attached to the bar - so convenient. We visited right at 9 AM, opening time. Found some souvenirs to remember our visit - shot glasses, refrigerator magnets and some nice turquoise/amber earrings. Bartender was from my home state. Dance hall is right across the street - I'm sure it is packed when there is music. Everyone was very friendly, down to earth. Thank you Willie, Waylon and the boys!

Nice place to spend a night with friends or lonely enjoying live music. I would be there more often if I could.

Took a run by here on our way to Fredericksburg. Interesting little store and old time dance hall. Pleasant out door seating under some shade trees. Not a lot to do but if you are in the area worth a run by.

The beer is cold and cheap. The stove is hot in the winter. There is plenty of shade and table space outside in the summer. Local musicians sit around playing guitar while the crowing chickens roost in the trees overhead (wear a hat like the locals). There are knickknacks and souvenirs and t-shirts for sale in the store. This is an awesome place to sit around with a few friends and drink a few beers.

My husband and I always make plans to stop by Luckenbach whenever we are in the area. The place is very relaxing and people are friendly. Sitting and listening to the various musicians in the pickers circle or the occasional live bands keep us entertained. The old dance hall has great shows on the weekends. We love it so much we bought a brick that was placed on their patio.

This is a fun little diversion while driving around the Texas Hill country. It's nice to grab a cold beer and just sit outside people watching. There might be someone playing music and/or singing, you just never know. There are plenty of quirky photo opportunities and its fun just to look around for a little bit. Kids are welcome. Limited food options.

So I finally know what the song was about. It's worth a stop, if you're in the neighborhood, to have a beverage or watch a jam session. BEWARE:many with no talent show up and play or sing also. Kind of part of the attraction.

I am not a country music fan but as the navigator on our two week trip of southern Texas I happened to mention the funny town of "Lookin' Back". My husband yelled, " You mean Luckenbach?" So we drove to Luckenbach twice. Once on the way to Fredericksburg and again on the way back. My husband was quite excited to see the memorabilia and the photos. On our first visit it was a cold and rainy weekday afternoon, but there were people in the store enjoying beer and listening to live music. On our second visit there was a huge jazz festival and while we didn't have time to attend the festival, there were very gracious to allow us to visit the store for awhile without paying the $15.00 per person charge for a day pass. We thought that was very nice. There is lots of things to buy in the store. We just bought some souvenir guitar picks for our son, but everyone can find something in the Luckenbach General Store.

We loved this little town! Great pulled pork sandwiches and jalapeño poppers... Live music all day long...grabbed a beer and a picnic table and listened to some live music... Super cool post office and general store! Everyone was friendly and having a good time.... Can't wait to go back, would be even more awesome during a festival!

This was not our first trip to Luckenbach, but it was the first time we've been during a weekday. Totally surprised at the number of people drinking cold beer and listing to visiting artists strumming their guitars and singing country music, some of the songs written by the singer. The audience was young and old, male and female, and just enjoying a nice afternoon under the oak trees. Proud roosters tried their best to keep time with the music, but their efforts only resulted in a half dozen or so roosters in competition for who could crow the loudest. Actually some of the most healthy, attractive roosters I have ever seen. I tried to befriend one, but he wanted nothing to do with me.

We drove to Luckenbach on a whim and we shopped in the store, got the kids picture taken on a longhorn, and sat outside on a picnic table with some cold beers. It was one of the highlights of our trip! There is a little cafe that had brats and funnel cakes. The kids could explore and watch the roosters climb up into the trees and crow. We could sit and enjoy a beer and some live music. What more could you want?

You have got to stop and see first hand what Wille and Waylon were singing about. Store is full on antiques and other memorabilia. Don't miss it.

Arrived on a Saturday afternoon. A band from Austin was playing at the outdoor stage. We sat and listened and had a couple of ice cold beers. Now this is what Texas is all about. General store has a lot of souvenirs for sale, but it was a little too crowded to spend much time looking around. Well worth the trip to see what Waylon and Willie were singing about.

We were a large group of visitors on a beautiful cool, sunny November Saturday. Our group included visitors from Idaho, Colorado and Minnesota, as well as lifelong Texans like me. The visit was unplanned, but turned out to be a perfect afternoon of blue skies, good beer, live music and fun food. The first thing you notice about being in Luckenbach is that everyone is just plain happy to be there. The town itself is rather small. There is an old dance hall on one side of the road. Attached to that is a small food service, The curly-frries are outstanding, but there are lots of other options are available. Cash only. Across the street is the original General Store/Post Office. the front of the store is combination museum and gift shop, and the back room is for buying beer. Lots of choices, and whether you want Pearl Lite, or the local craftbrew, you will pay $4.00 per. Again, cash only. Behind the store, under a fantastic old oak tree, are picnic tables, restrooms, a live music stage and a cowboy hat store. Oh yeah, there are roosters in the tree. You can explore the gounds around the town and see old farming artifacts and a nice little creek, which has rope swings for swimming in warmer weather.There is an ATM if you need more beer, or funnel cake, money.Don't miss this wonderful little slice of Texas.
