Have to write about this as it is something you see when pulling off the highway and go "?????" ... what's up with this. Not quite sure why it doesn't finish falling over but it is there.Cool funky picture stop worth the 5 minutes as a weird and wonderful thing a person finds along the road.

There was originally a truck stop located here and the leaning tower was built to help attract business. The truck stop is gone, but the tower remains. The tower isn't abandoned and being neglected. It is being cared for and the paint maintained to keep it looking good. It's nothing more than a photo op, but it's such a cool one. If you're heading west on I-40, access is super-easy. Just hop off Exit 114 and pull over on the side of the frontage road just off the exit ramp. Hop out, look at the tower, take some pics and move along down the road. Just west of the tower down the frontage road still stands the sign for the truck stop that once existed here too. Once you're done checking everything out, it's just an easy hop to the on ramp and back onto I-40 and you're on your merry way.A few years ago the fence around the water tower was open and you could walk up under it and get a really close look. It's all fenced off now, but you can still walk north along the fence line for some different views of the tower. It doesn't cost a thing to stop, so if you're into this kind of thing, it's well worth a few minutes of your day to stop and check it out.

This tower is on the old Route 66 but you can see it coming as you drive down the interstate. There is an exit right beside it so that you can drive off, take your pics and then either continue on the old route 66 or get back on the interstate. I got my husband to take a picture that is suppose to look like I am trying to push the tower back up. Not sure it worked that well but you might want to try yourself. Kind of a neat icon to have in your Route 66 photo collection. While we were in Groom, we drove through town which was very tiny and retro. Check out the giant cross which is the biggest they say in North America.

When looking up things to see along Route 66, we saw this and thought it was worth checking out. We found it pretty easily after searching the net. Pulled over and took a couple photos and we were on our way. Of course you have to take the photo looking like you're holding the leaning tower up. I had also read that they based the leaning tower of tires from the Cars movie on this also. Worth the stop if you have an extra 5 minutes.

Since my first visit in the US, I was fascinated by water tower. So everytimes we move to another town, I always take a picture of the water tower with the name of the area. When I saw this water tower, quickly I made a picture of it without stopping. First I thought that this tower is going to fall down and then when I found a website "Weird things in Texas" I realized that this tower is supposed to stand like that as an eye-catcher. How weird is that?

We arrived in Groom and took a drive by photo of the Leaning Water Tower. Wished we had stopped and done the “propping up the tower” photos – they look great!A definite must do photo opportunity for Rt66 travellers.

Whether in or passing close to Groom, it’s hard not to notice this landmark. And it’s definitely one of these “must take a photo” places! It was easy to find a place off-highway to stop and take some pictures (there will likely be a few cars stopped there too, with other folks doing the same thing!). And voila, another amazing roadside America snapshot!

As you approach Groom from the west on Route 66 you will see the often photographed leaning water tower on the opposite side of the I 40. To get your best photos you drive just past it, cross under the I 40 at junction 114 and then double back on yourself. This is only a short loop, and well worth it for the obligatory “propping up the leaning tower” photos. Apparently it was built like this just to attract attention...I don’t know how well it works as a water tower, but it did get our attention, so it was a success!

E' una vecchia torre con cisterna dell'acqua che vista da vicino fa impressione. E' veramente molto inclinata eppure resiste, attende i passanti che la vogliano guardare o fotografare. Un'altra chicca della Route 66.
