Went to Balmorhea state park for a outing with our local dive shop in San Antonio. We were treated to some fantastic, clear, beautiful water. Very relaxing dive, max depth was 25 foot.

We'd seen photos of some beautiful areas of this lake but when we got there, it was a wide, open fishing lake. We came to swim & there's no swimming here! We weren't prepared to fish so didn't but others we spoke with loved it!

We camped at the lake after a long day at the state park. It was so beautiful! There aren't really any bathrooms though (except for up a hill and they're pretty gross) so if you don't mind actually camping then this is a great spot. It was quiet and peaceful. I would recommend camping here over camping at the state park because is assume that would be quite noisy. At night it cooled off quite a bit and it was nice to be able to look at all the beautiful stars while laying on the picnic table.

Lovely small lake in the desert however, you must pay a fee to look at it. There is no swimming allowed which doesn't make sense. It's in a desert, swimming and cooling down in it seems logical.
