Imagine being in George Washinton's actual surveying office! It's easily accessible on a downtown Winchester corner, with Washington's actual artifacts in it! Worth stopping to see, as he surveyed most of downtown Winchester.

A great quick self guide tour of George Washington's office during his younger days. Small gift shop,

Washington's office is an interesting and worthwhile piece of George Washington's early career. We enjoyed the opportunity to visit a location which Washington used during the French & Indian War. The gentleman who was the volunteer guide was very entertaining and he provided stories of Washington's activities in the region, as well as some of the Civil War history of the Winchester area.

As others have said- the building is two rooms. The coolest part was the narrow little doorway between the rooms. The docent brought us in to a light-up map of the area, talked to us for less than a minute and then literally said "ok, push the buttons" and left us alone. The history was interesting, I would have liked a little more guidance- but glad I came.

Was driving around and almost missed it sitting on the corner of Cork St. Although it is small, if you're a French & Indian War enthusiast, it is interesting to see where George spent his time while they were constructing Fort Loudon.

This is literally two rooms. If you love history and love the details of it, you will enjoy this. Think of the admission as a worthy donation. Small children may get bored very quickly. We enjoyed the short time we were there, but if you're looking for excitement, this isn't it....

Most of this area is focused on the civil war, so I expected Washington's office to be related. In fact, it predates the war by several years. It's small and a very quick visit, but interesting enough even for children.

Washington used the log building as his headquarters while surveying the area prior to the French and Indian War. There is lots of history about him in the museum. Did not know before that Washington amassed a lot of land all over when he was surveying usually in partial payment for his services. This is worth a visit.

If you know about Washington's activities on the frontier and/or have visited Fort Necessity, there is nothing new at this tiny house. Probably better for kids than adults. Good photo op with statue of a young GW. Convenient to the pedestrian mall. Docents are very lively and provide way more info than most want/need. This is a quick stop, probably 30 min for most. Don't feel guilty if you decide to skip it. The General Jackson HQ is far more interesting!

Not much to see here but the little building itself is pretty cool. Spent maybe 15 minutes here. Not a must see.

I was so excited to see this museum with my husband and visiting parents, and while the museum is excellently researched and laid out, the staff member working that day was rude, loud, and bothersome. She really put a damper on our visit, speaking so loudly it was hard to concentrate and read the literature. I want to recommend this museum because it is interesting and involves a critical time period in American history that seems to get downplayed, but I struggle with that because of the woman who works there. Go, but be warned.

We almost passed this place by because of the $5.00 entrance fee.The place is authentic and it is small but it is very well done.Glad we spent the time there.

We took the quick tour of Washington's Office yesterday and it was very well done. The entire museum is just two small rooms so plan to spend 30 minutes at most. We read everything and we were done in about 20. The exhibits they had were very well done and informative though. It was a great, quick stop and I recommend it to see another side of Washington we don't hear too much about!

We arrived at this location with high hopes. It is a very small structure and doesn't take long to see. The attendant was very talkative, almost to the point of being distractive, so we opted for the self guided tour. There were some interesting tidbits of information about Washington, but all in all, this was not the caliber of tour we were expecting. This will only take an hour at best. Although it was cool to be in a structure George Washington used, I wish we had toured one of the other museums instead.

We learned a great deal about George Washington from the docent. He was quite informative. He shared personal stories which made the tour all the more enjoyable. When we mentioned that we were from Pittsburgh, he shared a few personal accounts. I so enjoy hearing such stories :)
