Good fun with swings and slides. As a kid or a midget, enjoy! As an adult, prepare to deal with bugs and skunks. It is not pastoral, but it is not always user-friendly.

I have been coming to this pool for the last 15 years or so with various grand kids. It is always a good time, It is nearby and the admission is reasonable. What could be more fun than floating on tubes while the waves are rolling and going down those curvy slides? But I do have a few complaints. The facility is showing its age. That awful blue paint color, the uncomfortable and ugly astro turf and general shabbiness are all crying for a serious makeover. You are not permitted to bring in your own food; what they sell is not great. You can leave the park and eat outside, but there are no picnic tables. Picnic tables outside would be a nice addition. But even with these criticisms the wave pool is still providing a really fun day.

We really enjoyed the water park. Reasonable close, easy to get to and affordable. The wave pool was the kids ( ages 6&5) favorite.Snacks weren't outrageously expensive. Lots of longer sand chairs.

Recently took my daughter to Great Waves Waterpark on a hot and sunny day. Anti-climatic at best. Understand we are not a Disney, but don't waste your money. Wave pool is small and crowded with limited number of tubes. The slides take an inordinate amount of time for the minimal lines. After and hour my 8 year old was ready to leave and head back to our community pool. In her words "Daddy, Watertown South Dakota has a better water park." She's correct. The facility need to speed up the lines on the slides. Standing in the heat is no fun!An expensive mistake. Look for a groupon deal or discount tickets, but definitely don't pay full price.

Another Northern Virginia Regional Park, Cameron Run is a terrific spot for the entire family on a summer day. The Great Waves section is very exciting with its constant ebb and flow of water as well as the numerous slides that spill into the basin. The batting cages are open for baseball players (and fans) who want to sharpen their skills at the plate in order to better contribute to their teams. The 18-hole miniature golf course winds up and down along a ridge of land that includes a waterfall and lots of running water. The holes seem to be easy, but in fact are difficult to par even for experienced golfers. The entire place is well-maintained and is moderately priced. Cameron Run has a large parking lot so there is plenty of room for everyone.

It's so heartwarming to see these college baseball top athletes compete each summer in the Cal Ripken league. Tickets are only $1 on Mondays, $5 other times. The athletes spend the summer playing ball as they are hosted by local families in their homes. They play their hearts out, and some in fact do go on to play in the Major Leagues.

we love Great Waves at the Cameron Run Regional Park...it's our beach in the 'hood...an oasis nestled between I-95 and the CSX railroad tracks. The facility has a large wave pool and an astro-turfed "beach" surrounding the pool. A great respite on the weekends during the summer. The facility fills-up quickly on the weekends...get there early to ensure entrance. The wave pool attracts a diverse group of people. But not too different from Ocean City or Virginia Beach. So, it's great for people watching ... especially those in bikinis who shouldn't be. Finally, If you believe that you'll be a regular, the "Bounce Pass" is the best deal...$85 for the season (and $70 for each additional family member). Five or six visits breaks you even.No outside food or drink permitted but you can bring in bottled water. Fair. If you're sly and not a soda drinker ... Perrier, San Pellegrino, etc. is considered water. "It's fancy water" but it's still water. Just make sure it's in plastic not glass.

Not as busy as some with bikers and strollers so a real find for a quiet peaceful walk. We go whenever we are in the area so at least every couple of weeks.

I got a groupon deal 16$ for 4 after 4pm. On arriving from the Main Street we didn't see a sign "great waves waterpark" so we passed it. The sign just has Cameron run park on it. Unless we missed seeing the waves park sign. Had no issues with parking. Parking is free. Didn't have any issues using my coupon. Just showed the front office my phone, in we went. The kid pools are past the wave pool. The wave pool was much warmer than the kid pools. Kids do not care. The splash area had a lot of peeling paint, that's normal cuz the water. 1 of the kids slide was not in operating. The curve one was. A lot of kids without parental supervision so there was a lot of ditching lines. It's hard to tell your kids to wait your turn when the majority are not. We didn't eat there or try the big slides. My kids are only 2 1/2 and 4 1/2. Overall I would go again because my kids loved it. Would I pay full admission? I doubt it.

If you go, go early. We did and we had a blast. Bring your own food and leave it in the car. The line for the ONE food building is horrendous. The intertubes were free of charge, but finding one not in use became more and more difficult as the day wore on. The slides had long lines that moved slowly. The preschool and up children's pool area was gorgeous. Price was $15.50 each, which was well worth it. Park was clean. They need a larger shower and changing area.

The Great Waves water park is great for young ones and older crowd. Although younger kids 4-9 yrs old looked like they were having a great time than anyone else. The snack shack can be improved big time. The menu is not that great, they have a burger called "bug kahuna" there is nothing big about it! Service is too slow and line gets too long! Outside food or drink is not allowed. So to avoid long waiting make sure you go to the snack shop before 12:30 pm. Alot of things to do for a county park! But we always stay at the wster park!

Yesterday, I went with my fiance to Great Waves. It was pretty busy around noon, but we were able to grab what looked like the last deck chairs. It seemed to be mostly families with little kids there, but there were other couples there as well. The park was kept very clean, which was impressive. They had some cute shops and stands, including Dippin Dots. The slides were clean, and were staffed well. The lines weren't terrible either. The lifeguards were very stringent about who they allowed where, based on swimming levels. There were probably ten lifeguards around the deck of the wave pool, and two or three in the pool itself at all times. At one point, we heard a whistle that turned into multiple whistles, and by the time we looked up, probably 20 lifeguards were on deck watching a couple of lifeguards in the pool swim to a struggling swimmer. They just came out of the woodwork immediately. The only issue I have is that you can't bring food or drinks into the park. I get that they need to make money, but that's a quick way to having some swimmers get heat stroke or dehydrated on deck.

This is a northern VA run park- not a huge private amusement park. The water park section has a wave pool, a toddler wading area, a small water area with two slides for kids in the 4-5 range, and then 4 larger slides for kids over 4 feet. There is also a sand play area and a playground area. There are a lot of life guards so that made me feel good. But, it gets pretty crowded. There was an incident with a young woman getting banged into the wall in the wave pool- the life guards were amazing and helped the woman. I was amazed how many parents allowed young kids into the pool without any supervision. No food or drink is allowed to be brought into the water park. There are lockers. 75 cents for ones near the entrance that you have to pay for each time you go in and out of it. The ones closer to the wave pool cost $3 with a $2 deposit an that allows for in and out privileges. There is a place to buy lunch/dinner and there is an ice cream shack. There is a store where you can buy towels, swim suits, goggles, flip flops, etc.We had an all area pass, but were too tired to go to the batting cages or do mini golf. Looked like fun. We would go back- it was very convenient to where we stay.

Went to the great waves park yesterday and had a great time with friends and family. We were earlier contemplating on going to the water mine in Reston but this was a better value for money...the wave pool was superb and we spent most of the time between 6 to 8 ft which is never crowded...Pla refrain from that if u don't know how to swim..a couple of guys nearly drowned and my wife too had a scare as she was dragged to the deeper end...an advice on how to use the tube in water.. Do not try to hold the tube from the side ... It will topple but come from under the inner ring and pull ur self up.. Or u can just push the tube from one side and the other side will pop around ur neck and then u can just pull ur self up

We purchased a LivingSocial deal for the whole family and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves on our summer vacation. We avoided the crowds by going on a weekday. My kids are 6,7, and 14 and I told them I used to come here as a child and it was called "Cameron Run Park" back then and it only had the wave pool and the waterslides, now there's many water activities including miniature golf and a batting cage. There are beach lounge chairs and some under big umbrellas to combat the shade. There are lockers in the bathroom facilities and concessions that can be purchased if you get hungry. There are attentive lifeguards at all of the water activity stations and I observed that they are switched out timely to ensure the safety of all guests. There are tubes in the wave pool so you may float and bob during the waves, there is an interim period where the waves subsideand then start up again for more fun.
