What a marvelous adventure aboard Captain Pete's boat to Hog Island! My family had a day we'll never forget because of Shore Thing Charters. We were staying in Cape Charles, VA, and were interested in the history of/and visiting the barrier islands along the northern coast of VA. We found a few tour operators that ran this type of excursion, but Shore Thing was the most reasonably priced, so we booked over the phone. Captain Pete was very patient and answered all of our questions and addressed my concerns about bring my four children to a "deserted" island. We met at Willis Wharf, were given life jackets and were off on a 45 minute boat ride. When we were dropped off bay side on Hog Island with all of our gear (SO much gear! picnic cooler, umbrella, chairs, sand toys and fishing gear - Capt. Pete didn't flinch when I loaded it all onto his boat!). We spent the rest of the day swimming, fishing, playing and beach combing. We found crabs, large conch shells and a multitude of sand dollars. Most importantly, we made great family memories! On the ride back, Capt. Pete taught my kids to "drive" the boat which was thrilling to them. This was the best day of our vacation and something my kids will remember forever.
