This plantation blew us away the knowledge was never ending . history unbelievable the home was very much overwhelming a wealth of information .We had the best time ,I have read the negative notes so we decided to take the tour and judge for ourselves . I just want to give a message to those who had a negative thought . you missed out and as far as going inside its a real treat . I can say the grounds look like Winter is here ,We cannot wait till spring to return !

This plantation is in terrible disrepair and that is noticeable right away when you drive up to the property. We drove around twice to see where visitors should park. A lady in pjs came out and I asked her if this was the plantation and if they still gave tours. She hesitated and said she was visiting but she thought that the owner still gave tours. We decided we had seen enough and told her thanks and left. Nothing like the brochure. Don't know what happened to this place but it's a disaster.

Really sad to see this plantation. Been to a lot around the area and this one was not kept up and looks run down. You need to call ahead for a tour and its privately owned. No one was home and no one answered the phone. :( We still drove around the grounds and were happy we didn't pay to go inside.

Some friends & I went to Chelsea Plantation last week. We brought lunch & ate it in the gazebo by the Mattaponi River. It was so peaceful & serene, that did not want to ever leave this place. The house was beautiful & full of unique furnishing, & lots of art work. You could stay there a week & not take it all in. I plan to go again & take more friends to see this little piece of heaven.
