Popped by this place on Sunday with a crowd of girlfriends - really pretty little place, the area was covered in snow but I cant wait to go back in the warmer weather. Great selection of wines to taste, they even give you little cheese cubes with bread so that you get a real taste of how the wine changes with food, our girl was so knowledgeable and friendly, its owned and run by her grandfather - family pics of them all around. They were great about letting us bring our picnic indoors, and had some gorgeous looking pizza/calzone/greek food, sadly they had sold out so we didn't get to sample those. Priced fairly for the tasting, also good selection of Greek Olive Oils for sale - we will return!

The owners are Greek, and actually related to the family that runs the Molon Lave Winery (Father & Son). Older tasting room with some charm. Good selection of wine, and they were pretty good. The young lady who did our testing was actually the daughter of the guy who runs Molon Lave. She couldn't have been more friendly, and we really enjoyed our visit.

This winery sits across from another winery on the same road. It is definitely Greek inspired. The owners are originally from Greece and opened this winery. The husband is a goldsmith as well. Parking is in the back of the winery and you walk down a slight slope to the front. We were greeted by the owners wife and then he stopped in as well. The decor within and outside is Greek themed, from the statute at the entrance to the various pic of current crops displayed. The wine was very good and only $5! You will not find these wines anywhere outside of this winery, they don't distribute to anyone. I thought their prices were a little high, but if you can only get it there, it may be worth it. They have outdoor seating and the views even in the winter are beautiful. The family lives in the property in a house a few yards up and they are all involved. Overall great wine and experience.

What a neat little find! After a long weekend of winery hopping, my husband and I decided to stop at this place on our way home. We fell in love with the place. The wines are extremely unique! They tend to be a little on the drier side, but done in such a way that you just can't say no! We ended up getting 6 bottles and some rosemary olive oil. Their outside seating area very unique too. We would have definitely stayed longer if the weather had been warmer. We look forward to visiting here again.

Friendly staff and a family atmosphere are what you can expect. The wines are just OK, but are rather pricey. We actually prefer the chardonnay at Winding Road Cellars to the chardonnay here, but Winding Road (because they're still new) is getting their chardonnay from here. We noticed a difference though. The grounds are cluttered and slightly tacky, but again, everyone if friendly and happy to have you!

Is there such thing as a craftsman wine? This is a family owned winery with every aspect of wine production done on site and only enough is produced for on-site sales and their wine club. If you become a member, you are invited to tasting of their limited production wines not available in the main room. If it wasn’t for Living Social this unique winery would have stayed under our radar and would never have experienced the pride the wine maker has in his developed recipes since his first barrel produced in 1961 that do not include adding sugar in fermentation. Our tour and tasting was done by wife/owner who was informative and reflected on the pride in her husband who developed the winery initially as a hobby. He is a silversmith by trade and his craft is reflected in the personal attention is gives to his wines. Eight acres produces both reds and white wines that are included in the wine tasting samples and very reasonable for the number of varieties you get to sample, as well as other wines, such as Rechina, a Greek wine. Usually there will be one or two wines that I like from a wine tasting, but found that each of the whites and reds were just as good as the other and liked them all equally. Their 2011 Chardonnay, which won the bronze prize in the 2013 New York International Wine Competition, left a nice long finish in the mouth and was told that two of their reds also just recently won awards. The family was originally from Greece which explains the very European-look to the grounds and tasting room. There is ample room and tables on the patio to enjoy the view of the vines and hillside and would be especially enjoyable to return and enjoy the fall foliage with a good glass of wine in hand. A visit to this winery will not disappoint any time.

Score 5. This by far is our favorite winery, and we've tried dozens so far. Mediterranean encapsulates everything one would think a working family vineyard is all about, and enhances the wine tasting experience to the umpteenth level! Their wines are fabulous, showing they take pride in what they do. Mr. Louie Papadopoulos' alone is worth the visit - he and his wife pour their heart and soul not only into the wine but into the customers - making you feel right at home. The winery boasts an incredible scenery and front patio with an extraordinary view of the vineyards sloping down in front of the building, not to mention a side portico that shades you back to a place on the Mediterranean. All which has been lovingly designed and landscaped as if it were in the old country. This is a must for anyone wine tasting, picnicking or just wanting to have a relaxing afternoon. Of the many good offerings they have, a few of the must try wines include: Martina Rose; Chambourcin Red; Romance Red; and Vidal Blanc.

I was here with friends and we had a good time. The wine tasting was very good and the winery was very nice.

I h.ave. been going to Mediterranean sellers for a few years now. The Reds are exceptional and I even found some whites that I like. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable and most of the time remembers us when we come in. It is truly a family there and you can tell all their time and care shows through In the wine. I don'gentleman below me is talking about . most of the staff has been there for a long time at least a year if not 5 to 7 Years

Pros: Family owned and operated, beautiful area, good view, many wines, generous poursCons: Average atmosphere in tasting room, newer staffI decided to check out this winery after finding out that it's family owned and operated by the same Papadopoulos family which also owns and operates the Molon Lave Vineyards.Overview:Located in Fauquier County, Mediterranean Cellars Winery is just about 5 miles Northwest a Warrenton, Virginia. Family-owned and operated, by the Papadopoulos family, with over forty years of wine-making experience. The property has been owned for 25 years, and opened the winery in 2003, crafting hand-made classic and regional varietals. The tasting room combines an "old world" atmosphere and breathtaking views from our comfortable patio. My experience:It was a little cold and windy the day I visited, which was unfortunate due to the area and outside seating and views providing a relaxing outside experience. I was glad to have the nice drive off of a main road, it made the feeling of an actual winery and left the busy and rushed feeling behind. The exterior of the winery was decorated to give you the feel of the Greek family, yet not overwhelming. The interior was a little more plain then I imagined but still provided the comfortable tasting room experience.I was greeted by Leah Papadopoulos and Birgitta. It was earlier in the day on a Friday, the winery only had one other couple there and they were getting ready to leave, which I was happy to have the tasting room with little distractions to myself. Birgitta was newer to the winery, she was very friendly and seemed to have a passion for the wines she was learning about and serving. Although she worked off some of the notes she had written down, she was able to describe them well and the pours were very generous :) I was hoping to have the tasting provided by Leah to learn more about the history first hand, but I enjoyed the tasting non-the-less.The wines had a unique feel and taste to them, definitely tribute to the Greek family style and traditions of the winemaker. They have a good variety of whites and reds, with a few sweeter style wines, to include Chardonnay, Riesling, Pinot Grigio, Moscato (not sweet), Viognier, Chambourcin, Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon, and two other sweeter style. Overall, I liked most of the wines but I was hoping for a few more unique type wines, like Molon Lave had.Overall:I would recommend this winery. The location is a nice relaxing area, away from the highway. The area surrounding and inside the winery provides a good feel, but not as great as other wineries offer. Although Birgitta was newer to serving, she provided a great experience and good pours throughout the tasting. The wines are pretty good and I would definitely return for a few glasses or bottle of a few favorites, although I will say they may not stand to the level of other wineries in the area. If for some reason you don't favor the wines, there's another winery eyesight from this one. However, the Papadopoulos family has two great wineries established, and I would love to have another one to visit!

In May 2013 we visited Mediterranean Cellars for a wine tasting with 2 other couples from out of state. What a wonderful experience. Everyone was very knowledgeable and the wines were very good. Maybe even more importantly, they were so welcoming and made us want to extend our stay and have a tour, but we had to leave after the wine tasting, but will definitely go back. There is a very reasonable fee for the wine tasting, but no charge for a tour or the view!!

We went here on a Monday holiday and were surprised we were the only ones there but by the time we left it was very busy. We did the tasting then had cheese and crackers and a bottle on the deck. Wonderful Greek hospitality. We were able to enjoy our snacks and pay afterwards. The most fun was the olive oil tasting in the back room. We bought a bottle to take home. The oils are from Greece. Try the blood orange!

We came here several months ago (when the cicadas were singing) and did a tasting with the lovely matriarch of the family. She not only shared stories of the wine but of her family and Greece. We had a bottle of the 2005 Cabernet Sauvignon reserve from the winery tonight to celebrate our anniversary. I hope the Yaya is pleased....hopefully some of the good fortune of her family and their product (which is lovely) will rub off .

There were five of us who tasted nine wines for $5.00 per person. We especially liked the Chardonnay and the dessert wine Romance. We had expected to picnic outside on one of the three decks, since we had a young child with us; however, it poured down rain. The family and staff could not have been more accommodating. They opened one of the rooms reserved for dinners and let us spread out our large picnic. The tasting rooms, as well as the surroundings were truly beautiful. They also offer exquisite olive oils for tasting. We came home with wines and a wonderful rosemary olive oil. Plan to spend several hours if you go. Perhaps make a reservation as it was crowded on the Saturday we were there.

The establishment is quaint and the staff are extremely kind. I suggest bringing a basket of food and settling in with either a tasting or a bottle of wine. You won't be disappointed with the view or a tour of the winery.
