My husband and I visited the Great Meadow Polo for our first time. We arrived early at 6pm to beat the crowd of expected 2000 and I'd say by 6:45p, they had 2000 people. We brought chairs in which we sat on the hill with a good view of the polo game. We really enjoyed the polo games. There was a winery there sampling and selling wine or you can bring your own. People brought blankets to lay on, their own wine and their own picnics too. It was such a beautiful evening and alot of fun. We will definitely return, held every saturday until early September. Cost is $30 per vehicle.

This post concerns the staff at Great Meadows, not the Polo itself. We had purchased rail tickets for the 4th of July fireworks show. We specifically purchased on the South rail as it was closer to out entry point and it was closer to the children's activities (which we had three in tow). We received our tickets in the mail (which correctly said South Rail) however when we got there the staff could not figure out why our tickets said south when there was already someone in that spot. Long story short, they had given us south tickets but reserved a spot at the on the end of north rail. It took 45 minutes of driving around and talking to people to figure this out. To add insult to injury they only had 2 port-a-johns in our section of over 500+. to get to any others you had to walk the entire length of the rail side, exit , and walk another 300 yards to another long line. Not only will we no longer attend anything at Great Meadows we actively tell people to be weary of any activities at the place.

As the previous review said, the cost is $30 a car to see two matches, participate in the family fun (like the kids tug-o-war) and dancing from the DJ after the matches. I think matches are every Saturday night during the summer but check the GMP's website for the detailed info. They had various food - pulled pork sandwiches, funnel cakes and fried Oreos - as well as local wine for sale. You can bring your own and have a nice picnic on your lawn chairs and enjoy the play. The crowd is a little upscale as you might expect for polo. It was many years since I'd attended a polo match and did not remember so many ladies in dresses as such (ala Pretty Woman?). Regardless, no one is checking what you wear at a velvet rope, etc, so dress comfortably. It is Virginia in summer with expected humidity so be comfortable and enjoy.

My husband and i had been meaning to do the twilight polo match summer series for years now. we finally made it out there and it did not disasppoint. We packed a picnic, took a bottle of wine and had a great evening. we sat on a blanket and ate while the match was going on. many families and young adults. overall a great summer event for anyone. they sale food and wine on site so you don't have to bring your own if you rather not.

Twilight Polo is so much fun. Come prepared! Bring loan chairs or blankets to sit on the loan, a picnic basket, even alcoholic drinks are allowed in. Otherwise, they also have a selection of food and drinks stands there. You may buy advance tickets online or, pay at the gate.
