we stopped by on a whim planning to stay only a couple of hours. BIG MISTAKE! there are 14 rooms with more to be added this year. in our two hours there, we went thru only two (2) rooms. there is so much to see, do and read it reaches a point of information overload. but every single piece of it is more than worthwhile. an educational experience par excellence for young and old alike.one friendly note: leave sharp, pointy objects in your car. I almost lost a pocket knife. figure on at least half a day. the building is deceptively large. we are going back to see what we missed.

This museum was amazing. It was larger than I thought upon arriving but the flow once inside was perfect. Being a wife of a retired Marine it was great to see 'how he became' one. My 13 yr old boys were asking questions of Boot camp and paid attention when my husband talked; the pure joy in my husbands eyes being able to really share with our boys a part of his history was awesome! Walking through each war and hearing my husband talk of the history he was taught before we read the plaques was fascinating. Each war and symbols was more amazing than the rest. I would highly recommend to all USMC families, from new Marines to retired Marines. While the weather was rainy we didn't get to walk through the trail, which was disappointing, but will be something we do on our next visit.Glad to see there will be expansions made so we have reason to go back and not say we already did that.

i went here with my brother and son having never heard of it nor really with much of a background and only a small interest in the marine corps . Yet my visit was very informative and powerful. The displays are interactive, approachable and very well done. The message while certainly proud was very balanced with the risks and some mistakes of war. Through out it all was respect do all the corps members and their families... Well Done!

A stunning tribute to the corps. A must for every Marine. A great way to share the Marine experience with family or friends. Be aware that it can be overwhelming emotionally. Displays are realistic and can trigger certain memories.

I have not been to this museum sonce 2007 shortly after it had opened. It has only gotten better and my wife spent hours walking through trying to better understand something that has helped shape so much of my life.There is just more information here than you can get in one visit and she spent 5 hours viewing the exhibits in awe over the access to authentic historical articles from throughout the life of the Marine Corps. Beautifully preserved and presented and now with a number of activites and photo boards for small children the museum appeals to all ages, although small children will be ready to leave long before the Marine who brought them. Plan on lunch and a cool beverage in Tunn Tavern upstairs before you leave.

First rate historical museum. Walk through a timeline immersed in artifacts, sights and sounds of 220 year history. Easy access to highway. Ample parking. Can be a destination trip, or a welcome diversion from route 95 travel.

I have never visited a museum which so moved me at the Marine Corp Museum. I visited with family who included by brother-in-law (a former Marine). We met former marines of all ages at the museum including ones who served in WWII, Korea, Vietnam, and the middle east. Some would relive their experiences other would not. There is a real feeling of Brotherhood you can feel when you see there men and women. The history that goes along with this tells a real story.

We stopped in Triangle area during our North Carolina road trip and spent half-a-day visiting this museum before we drive south.This museum offers a very thorough historical view of the US Marine. It could be easily taking a whole day here. The surrounding ground should be interesting to explore.The gift shop, cafeteria and a full-service tavern are also very good.

I visited here last Spring. My fiance is a former Marine so he had always wanted to do there.It was a pretty updated and current museum.The Vietnam Memorial section and 9/11 piece was touching.I highly recommend anyone, not just military families visiting this museum.

This is a stunning facility housing the history of the United State Marine Corps from its beginning in 1775 through the Vietnam era. Tales of heroism and honor are around every corner. While we visited, we found a reunion of marines there. We caught a photographer taking a pic of a veteran standing in front of his own picture from WWII. Overall a very moving and awe-inspiring experience. The museum will be undergoing an expansion in the Spring of 2015.

This museum is the best that I have been to. It is so engaging and thought provoking. We spent the whole day here and it felt like only an hour or two went by. The indoor rifle range was the highlight for my son and I. We scored the exact same score at 91=expert! We will be coming back once it warms up. Semper Fi!

Phenomenal!!!Only complaint - the gift shop unexpectedly closed at 3pm, even through the listed hours said 5pm. If I would have known that I would have spent $$$ in the gift shop first!

I'm former Army (but they let me in). This is an outstanding museum not just for the United States Marine Corps, but for the country as a whole. See the movie! Then walk the museum along the timeline of both the Corps and the world. From Tun Tavern (Philadelphia) to present!

As there is no listing for the Semper Fidelis Memorial Chapel located on the same property as the museum, I am reduced to combining the two. I am not a war buff, but the museum itself is architecturally interesting. But the Memorial Chapel is stunning -- in its simplicity, its fidelity to the location and purpose. Don't miss it!

This museum will totally surprise you with how they exhibit the many wars that the Marines have participated in. It is huge inside and has a wonderful souvenir shop of Marine items. They also have a magnificent full-serve restaurant on-site. Take the kids!
