You need to make this a part of your experience. It is short buy memorable...and a real old fashioned treat. There are local restaurants close by on either side of the river.

The park on the Rocky Hill side is so pretty, peaceful and quiet. The lawn area has picnic tables and benches. Many of the tables are in the shade. During the summer months my daughter and I will pack a lunch and do our crossword puzzles. Now that it's cooler I park the car facing the river and sit in the car. I've never been on the ferry itself. I really enjoy the park. If you're having a stressful week I suggest going to the ferry park to unwind for an hour or two with lunch and/or a book. This is the next best thing to sitting on the beach.

This a great "quick" trip across the CT River. You can take your car, or just walk on. There is a quaint restaurant on the Rocky Hill side to grab an ice cream or coffee. Beautiful views, great for all ages!

Just delightful! A short but scenic trip across the Ct. river. It is the oldest continuous running ferry in the United States. If your lucky, you may see an eagle or two along the way!

In the past 4 years this restaurant has changed hands 3 or 4 times. Even when they served up bowling alley grub and the wasps were swarming, we enjoyed the lovely view of the Connecticut River. Now that it's gotten a bit upscale and pricey we go a bit less often. Still, the view is sweet.

I have been going there since I was a little girl. My grandfather took me every day. You can go on ferry in a car, motorcycle, bike or just walk on. Its about a 10 minute ride to the other side. I take my bike from the Rocky Hill side and bike through South Glastonbury. The Rocky Hill side has a outdoor restaurant. It's a few bucks to ride it. It is the oldest consecutive running ferry in the United States. How cool is that. It used to be horses running on a belt that got you to the other side. I find great peace there.

A small park on the shore of the Connecticut River, good for spending some quite time, reading and/or eating a sandwich. It has a boat launching ramp and a small store nearby. Good views of the river.

If you want to take a trip back in time to experience a more relaxed lifestyle, take the Glastonbury/Rocky HillFerry. It's a beautiful spot on the Connecticut River, serene and picturesque. I recently decided to take it back to Glastonbury on a busy Friday afternoon when Rte 91 North was backed up from the Wethersfield/Rock Hill exit North. It was a welcome change from the chaos of the Interstate, and worth the $5.00 it cost. Keep this historic treasure operating!!!

Fun to watch the tug boat maneuver the ferry from one landing across the river to the other landing. There are lots of farm stands on the Glastonbury side and a riverside casual restaurant on the Rocky Hill side. Take the ferry as part of your route to the Dinosaur State Park. If you have free time, you could take a look at this Ferry which now a recreational place. Don't visit in winter :-)

This is the longest operating ferry in the USA. There is a good take out restaurant there. Also it is a great place for early teens to take their bikes. They get to another town on their own!!

I love coming back to Wethersfield/Glastonbury/Rocky Hill area and all it's scenic historical sights. I grew up here and try to take it all in when I can.

The place is at the banks of the Connecticut river, oldest continuous running ferry in US. Has a small park and a restaurant. Good place to spend your early mornings or evenings, even has a small place for fishing.

Ferry is oldest continuously running ferry service in the United States. It connects Rocky Hill to Glastonbury across the Connecticut River along Route 160. The ferry can fit 3 cars (sometimes 4 small cars). The wait is usually short, but I have seen it where cars have had to wait in an adjacent parking lot if the access road is full (usually 5 to 6 cars). A must see attraction for the area. Keep in mind that the schedule is seasonal.

My kids and I recently hopped the ferry from Rocky Hill to Glastonbury and it was very cool! I think it was around$4-5 for my minivan. I pulled on, set the brake, shut it off and hopped out w/ the kids. We enjoyed watching the small tug maneuver the ferry and itself across the river and into dock. For the short time it was, we still got to take numerous pics and sit and enjoy the river as it flowed by. All in all, short but sweet! For those of you who are hungry there is also a small restaurant and a bait shop for the fishermen!
