Monmouth has most unusual columns that adore the front porch. In more recent years it has served as B&B and also serves formal meals to guests and visitors to Natchez. Built in 1818, this antebellum home still contains personal belongings of General John A. Quitman. The grounds and gardens are beyond words. I think there is also a small gift shop on the grounds.

Besides being a fantastically restored 1800s Mansion, this is also a Bed an Breakfast - you can stay in the mansion or in one of the many separate buildings on the grounds.We would certainly consider staying here on our next visit to Natchez.The tour of the main home was very interesting and the grounds and gardens were beautiful and we went in mid winter here. Springtime must be really beautiful. The mansion tour requires a ticket but we think touring the grounds is no chargeHearing about the families who owned and lived here and the changes that brought it to what it is today were fascinating.

Unforgettable beauty. The house, the gardens are magnificent. The 1818 bar is a great place to have a few cocktails and bar food, or dine at the "big" table.

We toured this property but did not stay here. What I enjoyed the most were the verandas and the gardens. Even though we visited in the winter, we could tell that the property is very well maintained. It's a shame that there are not more furnishings original to the house, although it is furnished in period furniture. I will enjoy going back in the Spring and hopefully will be able to spend a night or two there.

Natchez is full of Mansions. This is one of the best. Natchez at one time had more millionaires than anywhere in the United States. This places helps wrap your mind around that culture and how they lived at that time in history. We missed the tour, but walked the grounds. Beautiful gardens!

Beautifully situated, grand old home surrounded by ancient trees dripping with Spanish Moss. Very welcoming staff upon check-in, both front desk, Laura, and Mr. Hal, who escorts you to your accommodations and is available to meet your slightest whim. Found Pond Cottage both charming and comfortable (great linens, separate tub/shower). Its locale afforded us the luxury of enjoying the rocking chairs on the porch while watching grandchild fish (tackle is complimentary at front desk) with the owner "Walter", and observing the native egrets who've made Monmouth's two ponds their home. Enchanting grounds, complete with family cemetery, lend a mysterious air to the property. Dinner at 1818 was delicious - our filets were cooked perfectly. Our waitstaff, Dianna, was more than happy to accommodate side substitutions for our eight-year-old granddaughter who also enjoyed a filet and shrimp and grits as an appetizer. She declared them the best she'd ever tasted. Dinner was so pleasant, we cancelled our plans for dining elsewhere the next night and remained on property dining once again at 1818. Again, the food delighted us, especially the gumbo, truly some of the best we've ever eaten. So good in fact, that our granddaughter ordered a second bowl to share for our appetizer. Our only disappointment came at breakfast. The setting is lovely with optional dining on the beautiful arbor-covered porch or inside at well appointed tables. However, some of the staff (not the young lady) seemed to have missed THEIR morning coffee. (The breakfast is included in the price of accommodations, so perhaps the staff is not on the receiving end of adequate compensation for their efforts, thus their lack of such. Perhaps a tab could be brought to the table, indicating price of breakfast, yet showing no balance owed. Then patrons would know an appropriate amount to tip.) Arriving at the door to the dining room after a delightful walk on a narrow pea gravel path through lovely fountains and plantings, we waited at the door with four or five staff buzzing about and only three other tables occupied. Finally we were instructed to sit where we liked. We waited and waited. Finally a young man came and offered coffee. No one mentioned the self-serve juice/fruit bar inside. I had no placemat nor silverware/napkin and had to ask for them. The eggs and bacon were cooked nicely, but the grits were watery and could have been wonderful, had they been prepared with milk or cream. The biscuits were oversized, bland and uninteresting. With not much adjustment, this breakfast could be made delicious. As a side note, granddaughter picked seven or so pears from the trees by Pond Cottage and I made a most delicious pear jam from them. Perhaps the staff could do the same and offer with breakfast as a charming accompaniment. All in all, a lovely stay, and somewhere we'd like to visit again.

we drove to Monmouth because I had always heard that it was one of the BEST.. But to our surprise, we did not get a tour because they only tour at 10:00 a.m....That is not mentioned in the tour directory . Please list this information in the tour books so other won't be disappointed and they can plan a tour at Rosalie, or another home.

Grounds are fantastic and tour was with a woman who was a native of Natchez and remembered the decay of the mansion before restoration.Really recommend this Mansion (Bed and Breakfast) tour. If quaint is your enjoyment, would be a great stay. Being Tall limited me to one of two rooms-both rented.

1818 was anticipated by us for a meal, but it was not meant to be. Our reservation (2 mos early) was cancelled by them with no notice to us. We had to make other plans. Even if they are extra special, the wedding they planned was never announced to us. Be careful if you have plans here!

Monmouth is a beautifully restored antebellum home that is full of beautiful furnishings and scenic wallpaper in the entry hall. Monmouth is also a B&B and although I have never stayed here, I have seen the rooms and they are beautifully furnished. There are lots of weddings and parties held on the grounds which are beautifully landscaped, complete with a small lake.

I understand the mansions need to have additional revenue to maintain the property and Manmouth is no exception. It seemed that the main purpose of the mansion is either hotel or restaurant. As I sat in the garden waiting for the tour to begin I felt like an intruder to the hotel guests. Our tour guide repeated that she was tired from spending the day in class and couldn't concentrate on her tour speech. The mansion boasts of having the best mint juleps, confirmed by a certificate from the Kentucky Colonels but we were given an opportunity to purchase a drink. It was a hurried 30 minute tour that seemed to be an after thought.

This mansion is absolutely gorgeous. The staff was very friendly and they let us tour the grounds of the mansion before our tour started. The tour guide was very friendly and personable. We were allowed to sit in on some of the furniture on the second floor of the home, which was nice. Overall, this was a beautiful place to tour-inside and out.

Good place to take a date or in my case your wife. The food was very good, but bring some cash. Our server was very friendly and knowledgeable.

We were lucky enough to visit the plantation and even luckier to dine here. The grounds are wonderful and the house is just like stepping back in time with some beautiful original furniture. The staff are very friendly. We'll worth a visit and if you have the time you have to book a table to dine. The food was amazing. Beautifully presented and tasted as good as it looked.
