This last home of Jefferson Davis is definitely worth the visit. The home is tour guided at this one level residence type cottage. Many items from this post-civil war era are on display. On the grounds are a civil war museum and library archive area in the same building as well as other buildings, one which contains a brief video history of Jefferson Davis. At the back end of the property is a cemetery with graves of both Union and Confederate soldiers.

"Beauvoir" - " beautiful view" in French - and the home of Jefferson Davis in his later years. Nearly destroyed by Katrina in 2005, it has been restored to its former condition in 1889 (?) right down to replanting trees, rebuilding walls, and reconstructing the green front entrance.Incredible research and care was obviously given to the historical detail. Your entrance fee will grant you an amazing tour of the house, entrance to the presidential library, and the ability to wander the beautiful grounds – and Confederate cemetery.Seeing the trompe l'oeil, the French word meaning "to fool the eye" is worth the cost of admission! But you get to see so much more!An incredible man dressed in period costume leads the guided tours; he is both informative and entertaining – warning you that he is there to talk to you about the house itself – and not Jefferson Davis. (he notes that you could easily discover that information at the presidential library, from the video, are reading the guide.)All of the original furnishings were given away, but have been replaced by similar furnishings for pieces donated back to the house by museum or private donations. Our guide taught us much about the times – noting the scale of the furniture – and the problems and aging Davis might have had with that furniture. He also taught us interesting trivia – about the chaperone's mirror, life of the inhabitants, and even interesting facts about how women protected their reputation at that time...Fascinating; the guide makes history come alive! The cemetery is also interesting in its own right – well-maintained and keyed to learn more about its inhabitants. A notebook notes who is buried at a particular gravesite – and a little about that person. We ran out of time and were not able to visit the presidential library, itself. Suffice it to say that we were pleased with our visit – what a lovely educational afternoon! And yes, the views of the Gulf are beautiful – whether you are in the house or quietly rocking on a chair on the front porch!

Beautiful building and grounds with a museum and library. I am not a Civil War history buff but the visit was truly worthwhile. It is really a testimonial and monument to a failed confederate idea and dream and the person that was it's leader. Walk around the grounds and visit the cemetery. Ponies may come up to you and visit,

Not coming from the Usa I knew nothing about Jefferson Davis or who he was, after visiting Beauvoir I now have a better understanding of the man, his life and his causeThe house is a beautiful building which has been restored following Katrina, the damage caused by the storm allowed them to restore it back to how it once was, the guide explained all about the house, the furniture, each of the rooms and explained about the other buildings on the property Due to Katrina a lot of the properties were rebuilt so they are not original, the library and museum are also newThere are various displays in the main building which are interesting, they also restored the garden to how it was when the Davis family lived thereThe whole property is still being worked on following Katrina and can only get betterThe guide was a lovely gentleman who was very knowledgable and was more than willing to answer questions To save money you can find coupons in the various coupon books you can find, so instead of $12.50 per adult you can pay $10's eachWe were there almost 4 hours, if it had not been so cold and windy we probably would have been there longer, as we did not go in all the outer buildings, nor lingered in the groundsWell worth a visit and it can only improve

A beautiful place to visit. We really enjoyed the history and grounds. A "must see" while in Biloxi!

Jefferson Davis died as a man without a country. He certainly was a skilled leader in what was thankfully a loosing cause. This home and the library/museum celebrate his life and leadership in a interesting, informative and elegant way. It is certainly is a place worth visiting. The home is viewed as part of a tour and our guide was good and knowledgeable. There was much damage to this attraction by Hurricane Katrina, but it all has been restored and is in excellent condition.

An affordable tour of wonderful artifacts and a small presidential library. The grounds and Confederate Cemetery are worth visiting as well. Discounts are available through AAA and area tourism magazines. Many pictures are shown that depict the damage from Katrina and the recovery cleanup. Many of these are in the Presidential Library.

The house and grounds are just lovely. This place certainly lives up to its name--Beauvoir- as it is indeed a beautiful view. The view of the Gulf from the front of the house is just magnificent. The house tour was very informative and the guide really knew a great deal about the place. The tour itself was way too crowded. There were 45 people in our group, making it very difficult to truly view the rooms. As a northerner, I couldn't help but wonder if the south is truly still fighting the Civil War. The confederate flag was flown at an equal level with the American flag and the people portraying Davis and his wife said some pretty outrageous things to a Northerner's ears--- the Davis family loved their slaves and were very good to them (maybe, but they held human beings in slavery) and Lincoln changed his view on slavery after he became president. (No kidding, i would certainly hope that any president represents the entire nation and not just one state)---- and, the war was about cotton---not slavery---( i guess the two aren't in any way related???)- But, I know that this is reality for many people here so I can overlook that. The library had some very interesting displays and all in all, this is worth your time.

Mostly restored from Hurricane Katrina. This is the estate of Jefferson Davis, President of the Confederacy. There are many intersting antiques on display and you can get a good look at what life must have been like for southern aristocracy. I enjoyed the history lesson and the view of the Gulf and beach.

We toured Beauvoir on rather inclement day in the middle of February. It was still well worth visiting as a lot of things were inside. I enjoyed the tour and learning about the architecture of the main house, and the restoration efforts after Katrina. If you are an early American history buff this is definitely a good stop while visiting the area to learn more about Jefferson Davis.

This was a sad day for the employees of Beauvoir. They had had a funeral service for a long time employee that day. Everyone was still very helpful. Evelyn was INCREDIBLE! She spent lots of time answering my questions and going over information that would be helpful in my classroom. I could have listened to her all day. I thought the museum and the library were the best parts of the tour.

This was a repeat visit. The tour is always neat. We went before Katrina and this was our first visit since then. We saw the new displays and went to the gift shop.

Truly enjoy the visit. The tour guide was very informative. Well worth the price of admission. The restoration since Katrina was very well done.

Whether you are a history buff or not, this is a must visit! The restoration of the home and grounds is amazing. The library and gift shop are an added benefit to a visit here. As you step into the home for the guided tour it's almost like stepping back in time to the life of Jefferson Davis. If you are a history nut like I am you can feel yourself living in the 1800's just by visiting Beauvoir.
