The food is great! Never have I had such a great meal at a winery in my life. I ordered the baby back ribs with the skillet potatoes. The ribs were better than any bbq restaurant I have eaten at. The skillet potatoes were excellent as well. The sweet and semi dry wines I tried were very good. They had a seasonal cherry wine that was Awesome! The establishment was very clean and the surroundings were beautiful. The owners and wait staff were very accommodating and friendly. I look forward to stopping back by next time I am in the area.

After driving by this sign so many time we decided to stop and try Red Fox Winery. They had a sign that had a Bistro sign out on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday and we were on our way back from helping Mom open her lake place this weekend. We were really tired and we had not eaten since that morning so really probably wasn't the best time to try a new place but we took a chance anyway. We were hopeful when we saw the place it was beautiful and the parking lot was full. When we went in there were two tables inside that were reserved but not full and most of the other tables inside were occupied. There was a table outside and it was a nice night so we took it. The owner sat us and took our drink order, two iced teas since we had not eaten for about 6 hours. The table next to us had a couple with children and the other table outside had several couples enjoying a celebration. It was about 6:15 and we enjoyed the view and watching the bluebirds catching bugs in the vineyard and taking them back to feed their babies in the house on the tree. It concerned us that it took us 10 minutes to get water but not that much. The couple next to us had grandparents join them and they were entertaining. The celebrating couple finally got their orders taken and we finally got our iced tea and our order taken. We ordered two entrees and an appetizer with the house salad dressing on both salads. We watched as the celebration table received their salads, they looked wonderful with slices of bread on top; and more drinks and wine. The kids next door run through the vineyard and finally get their order taken. At 6:30 our salads arrived but there was no bread on top, served by the owner, just a little lettace, a few onions, feta cheese, and the house dressing. There was another waitress but she was in and out. We finished our salad, the dressing was delicious, but not much to the salad and the owner took the couple and family's next to us' order. The waitress came by and asked if we needed more tea and I asked about the bread. The waitress apologized and left. She brought us back a piece of bread and butter. The family next to us got their salads with bread all except for the little girl. She had to wait for her grandpa to to check on her salad until she got hers. Meantime, the celebration table got their entrees. My husband and I started to wonder if we had picked the right place at about 7:15, when the waitress asked us if everything was okay and I just looked at her. She said she would go check on our food. After thirty minutes of not seeing anyone, my husband and I left a ten dollar bill on the table for the water, two glasses of tea, the salad, and the bread. We felt that someone should have come and said something to us about our appetizer. We order the olive appetizer, humus, etc. it didn't need to be cooked, just put on a plate, should not have taken that long to get out. I know we were tired, hungry, and cranky but this was ridiculous. I know they were busy but the large groups had not even arrived when we were there. Someone talking to us would have been nice and explaining what was going on. Problem in the kitchen, chef not showing up, anything but just ignoring us was not good customer service. I am sorry because I really wanted to try their food, I am not sure we will try them again. Maybe if we are not so hungry and tired.

Three girlfriends and I made the mistake of including the Red Fox Winery as part of a Girls Day Out. The woman in charge of conducting our tasting was THE MOST HATEFUL AND RUDE person I have ever encountered in my life. One would think a quaint winery with an intimate tasting room would be an acceptable venue for making conversation with the people serving you wine-WRONG!! If you enjoy being treated like absolute crap-Red Fox Winery is the place for you. I ,however, will never return.

I was looking for a winery in the KC area that was more than just a "one room operation" -- a place with a real food menu (not just crackers and cheese) that we could stop for a few hours and enjoy ourselves. And this was the place! The owners were extremely friendly and accommodating and, even though we only paid for an 8-wine tasting, let us try the entire menu. I prefer wines that are a little drier and more full-bodied than their reds, but their whites have very nice tropical and floral infusions. We had the spinach and cheese spanakopita while we tasted the wines (delicious!) and for lunch had the turkey paninis and the daily special crab cakes, which were unforgettable. The prices were extremely reasonable. Lastly, the grounds and the views were GORGEOUS and, had it not been so hot outside, we would have loved to take more time to explore. Great place to take pictures and, during the fall, to sit outside and enjoy a meal while watching the sun set over the vineyard. To everyone at Red Fox, thank you for a wonderful Saturday afternoon!!! I will definitely be back!

My husband and I were needing a getaway. We left the house in Kansas City and let the wind take us where it may. We ended up on highway 7 south and came across a sign for Red Fox Winery. We stopped in at about 2:00 p.m. and were the only people there. The owners made us feel welcome and were very accommodating. We were able to try 9 of there wines, ranging from a rose to that comparable to a Merlot for $9. We also tried their Caprese Salad and their dinner gyro plate (which the owner made for us although it was still lunch time). The food was amazing and the wine was even better. I recommend the Semi Dry White and the Chambourcin! Oh, did I mention the gyro plate came with Dolmas? I have always wanted to try grape leaves!

We stopped by here to see what Missouri's Wines were all about and it turned into a fun little hang out! Visiting from Hawai'i all the way to Missouri too see our family in Clinton we decided to also check out some other area's near by and so happy we did! Got to try out 11 different wine selections and bought 4 of them! Would have gotten more but only had 3 days left to enjoy them! I highly recommend stopping there it is worth even a hour or more drive if your in the bordering states! My favorite wines were Semi White, Sweet Red, Rose and Sweet White! They also have lunch & dinner on weeends call for reservationsAloha
