Why is this recommended as an attraction. There is nothing special to see. I think that they are trying to bring $$ to the area that is actually run down.

This is such a beautiful drive. I would love to live there. The trees are in their full fall glory. Now you get to really realize why the poem was wrote. Ashland Avenue is near by and also the parkway. Put all three together and you have one fabulous fall drive. The parkway connects from one end of the city to the other. Krug park on the north and Hyde park at the south end.

This was something we seeked out, because we had read some interesting reviews. Now I am not sure what people were taking about in the reviews because it was just a very short street with a monument with a quote from Eugene Fields. Had some flowers along the base of the monument... Not worth looking for. Not too much to see.

This is another site I was surprised to see high on the list of things to do in St. Joe... This is nothing more than relatively short street. It is certainly nicer than most streets in St. Joe; however, I would much rather take a drive down Ashland or out in Stonecrest. There is a monument; however, it says little more than Eugene Field was here... My guess is things were much more impressive when he was there, and would easily say that this street is not worth seeking out unless you are already next to it... Stick to Ashland or the Parkway, they are much more scenic!

We we weren't sure what this was but we took a chance :) Lovers Lane is a very scenic short drive. There is a little area with a monument with a quote from Eugene Fields about Lovers Lane, a lot of flowers around the monument.

Read the poem and then make the drive down this beautiful lane. It is covered with grand trees that shadow the drive to make it a very peaceful drive on any given afternoon.

I read these reviews with interest, as I am considering moving to the area. After living throughout the US. (I currently live in the Bay Area) and having visited many of the US scenic sites and local neighborhoods, I have to say that this truly is a lovely area. I just visited in the fall and it is beautiful and relaxing. I can see that St. Joe has made an effort to highlight the street with signage, etc. It is really special. Sometimes locals just don't appreciate what they have, but I certainly do. St. Joseph folks should be proud to have this special neighborhood to brag about. It still has the old fashioned charm. New houses and neighborhoods, no matter how well planned, just can't replace that sort of charm or make up for the lack of older growth trees, Lisa

The residents in this area like to try to make a bigger deal about the name of their street than is necessary to boost their self esteem & property values but its way overrated. I'm sure it was neat back in the day but that was long ago. It's just another street these days that a poem talked about long ago.

This is a lovely, winding, street in the northern part of town. While it is no longer the country lane described in the poem by Eugene Fields, it is a lovely drive through a nice neighborhood.Fortunately, we chose a time of day (mid-morning on Wednesday) when traffic was light and we could slow down and look at some very nice houses "as we snailed along,"

Lover's Lane is a beautiful place to drive in any season! Winter boasts lots of beautiful Christmas lights, and Spring/Summer you'll see houses with the outstanding gardening of the locals.

If you want to take a drive and look at some nice old houses (among average houses, that's the way we roll here in St. Joe) it's a very lovely drive. Don't try to walk it though. The best part has no sidewalks.
  • CheckOffBucketList
It took forever to find this because it's an overpass off the main road with no good signage. Basically it's a back country road in the middle of an old but very pretty housing development. You'd probably appreciate it more if you walked along it rather than drove.

This drive through vintage homes sprinkled with modern abodes gives you a small glimpse of the hey day of St. Joseph. In the spring, the flowers adorn the sidewalks and driveways. In the fall, the colorful leaves and crisp air give it a New England flair. From Lovers Lane, hop off onto the parkway system for another adventure through St. Joseph.

If you are looking for Lover's Lane because of the poem, great, but except for the colors of the leaves in the fall, this is going to be a big disappointment to most of you. If the city had done something special to dress it up, it would have been nice. But the poem"Lover's Lane, Lover's Lane, hasn't existed for 50 years. Just another roadway in St. Joseph.

Just driving around and found this great and very well kept section of Saint Jo, beautiful older homes on large lots all with nice landscaping, pride of ownership showed with each home. Looks like a great place to live, if you could find a home for sale.
