One of our favorite things to do when we have the little girls is to plan a day at Purina Farms! Especially in the Springtime, right before Easter when they allow you to go inside the barns and pet the baby animals. The girls also enjoy the shows where a trainer will show off her dog and it's tricks. Our favorite activity on this day was the wagon ride where the tractor driver took us on a trip around the farm. The grounds are so pretty and so well kept. There's lots of room for the kiddos to run and play or maybe even bring a picnic lunch... although Purina does provide food for sale. If I remember right, there was even somewhat healthier food for little ones. There's a pretty cool gift shop and museum where they teach you about the process of making pet food. This activity is free so definitely plan a trip when the weather turns nice!

Milking the cow seems to be the highlight of most of the adults and children day! The dog shows are entertaining and can really hype up a crowd! This is a self guided tour. The Easter exhibits and displays are just as nice as the Halloween displays!

Purina has done this right! A beautiful venue on a scenic hill where hundreds of dogs and dog lovers can congregate for a good dog show! The facility is large, clean, comfortable, with ample parking. There is a large RV parking lot with full hook ups and a visitor center (which I did not have time, unfortunately, to visit). Everyone was friendly including the person at the gate who always had a friendly wave when entering and exiting the grounds. There is a small snack bar inside for a quick adequate bite to eat or drink to quench your thirst. There is space inside for a very large grooming area and the opposite side has space for three show rings and exhibit space. Walk out at the end of the day and take a deep breath and enjoy the spectacular views from atop this hill. Green pastures, rolling hills, dogs running around, horses at pasture. Beautiful, serene spot! Can't wait to return!

Fun place to visit, especially families and children but it appeals to any animal lover! Check out the calendar on the web site for special activities.

Free admission! Wonderful activities for the whole family. Lots of animals for the kids. Great dog show. Helpful to check the schedule of events/shows before heading there.

Big dog show for us, and the grounds are stunning -- hundreds of acres of landscaped meadows, ponds, fields, trees, for herding, obedience, breed, dock diving, hunt tests. The buildings for indoor shows are not quite what I would like, in terms of footing ( slippery mats, polished concrete) and they are very echo-y , loud and harsh bright light. Showing outdoors would be great, as long as the thunderstorms are at bay. The staff at PF are excellent efficient and professional at all times.

Purina Farms is a fun place for the little ones to see and interact with animals, though it is a bit smaller than I expected it to be, this is still a worthwhile destination for families.

One of the biggest events hosted at this facility is the Incredible Dog Challenge. It is filmed in September and then shown on TV in January. Here is what you need to know....the actual competition is on Saturday. But Friday is the trial run and qualifications. You see the same exact stuff with out all of the people. I went a couple weeks ago on Friday and had a blast! So nice to be out there without battling the crowd that is there on Saturday. I have been now been on Friday and Saturday....and will never go on a Saturday again! You are welcome to bring your dog with you, but if you want to sit in the bleachers, that can be challenging unless you have a lap dog. If you have mobility problems, the steps to the area do have a railing. Unfortunately there is no ramp for people who have a motorized wheelchair or scooter. They have a place (in another area of the park) where you can buy food and drinks so you don't have to bring them....however, if you are like me and on a budget, you can bring a cooler with what you need. I kept mine in the car and went to the car when I needed a drink or eats. There is a guard at the gate when you enter the grounds...but they really don't want you to do anything....they just greet you and wave you through. If an event has a charge you will pay at the event building, not at the guard shack. BTW: Most of the events are free, so this is a nice place to go for cheap and fun entertainment....kids, or no kids, if you like dogs....this is one fun place!

Recently visited for the first time and loved every minute I was there. The venue was amazing and the grounds were beautiful, so much to see and do. The staff was helpful and courteous. Ample parking even with an event happening.

We attended theBasenji Club of America's 2014 National Specialty show at Purina Farms, and I was absolutely thrilled with the experience. The facilities and venue were amazing, the grounds were beautifully kept, and parking as abundant, even with other events going on at the same time. There was more than enough grooming space, and the event rings were just lovely--so slipping and falling in the ring here! Everything was clean and well-lit, and the staff was friendly and helpful. I definitely hope that our club chooses this venue again in the future, as it was just wonderful in every way.

Weather permitting this is a great kid and family place to go. Always special events going on. You might even find a dog show on weekends.

The complete package in dog shows! Field trials, agility, obedience and of course, conformation! They paid attention to detail!

I had no idea this was here, or of what there was to do. The children with me ranged from 4-8 and they all had a wonderful time. We watched dogs maneuver through agility fields, play Frisbee, dive off docks, and have a wonderful time with their trainers. We also petted baby pigs, chickens, and milked a cow! There are plenty of places for kids to run around, and swing in a hayloft. They had a blast. The only consideration for me was, do this first. After some of the more "sophisticated" activities in the city, the older kids might not think this is so great. However, all my city grandchildren thought this was wonderful. And free!!!!!

My husband and I visited here because I remembered visiting as a kid. The lady gave us a funny look when we walked in without any children with us, but we enjoyed it all the same. While it is geared for the "younger" crowd, we enjoyed petting all of the farm animals (especially the piglets) and really liked the dog agility show.

Have been to Purina Farms several times. As a venue for dog events, there is no equal. The Purina Event Center is a top notch facilty. Even on a hot weekend, the interior temp was nice and cool. There is a cafe that serves pretty decent food that is somewhere north of fast food, but south of a casual dining chain. We camp at the adjacent camping area, and if I had one complaint, it would be that a very long sewer hose is needed if using the sewer hookup. The shower/bath facilty was clean and well-maintained. The folks at Purina are wonderful supporters of canine sports, and we're thankful that they built this wonderful facility.
