This theatre is awesome. They show many classic movies. The pipe organ music is delightful. The theatre's interior is very elegant. I have gone here many times. The theatre itself is located in a high crime area. Stay very close to the theatre. Parking is fenced in with security.

The movie was outstanding. The trip to Detroit was a first for me. My wife was last here when she was a child. The pipe organ is raised during the performance then lowered for the movie.

Last weekend we made our first trip back to the Redford Theatre in quite some time. Actually it was the first time ever for my girlfriend and nearly 40 years for me. My first job was as an usher there, back in a time when the theater was showing second-run movies and was somewhat rundown. The company I worked for sold the theater to the Motor City Organ Society who then took on the task of restoring this once elegant 1928 gem. I always wanted to return to see what the place looked like, but time passed, I moved to North Carolina, and more time passed...Fast forward to last week when we finally had a chance to see the theater and a showing of Christmas Story. All I can say is that I was stunned at how incredibly beautiful the theater is. The show was great, the volunteer workers were terrific, and for the first time ever I got to hear the mighty Barton Pipe Organ that used to sit silently in the corner all those years ago. An added bonus was the appearance of several actors from the 1983 Christmas classic who talked about filming the movie, signed autographs and posed for pictures. It was a fantastic experience, and it will hopefully be the first of many trips back to this fantastic theater. Kudos to the volunteers who make the Redford Theatre special.

I loved seeing best in show at the theather, improve week was fantastic. I have lived in the area all of my life, so I want to let those that are unfamiliar or traveling to the area that it is located in a high crime area of the suburbs. While this theatre and the local upstarts are trying to make a change, until that change actually happens, please do not wander in the neighborhoods around this awesome theather. I certainly feel confident in the routes I take, but if you stray a street or two over It is not safe after dark. I am truely sorry to say this, but I want people traveling to be safe. In the future I hope this changes, and I hope to be a part of it.

My boyfriend and I go frequently. At $5 a person to get in you can't beat the price. Popcorn, etc., are reasonable. The facility is staffed by volunteers. They work hard to present movies that are loved and open to suggestions from the fans. The balcony level is opened and I prefer to sit up there now. Great family night out for value. The old-style Japanese theare is beautiful. Always enjoy the old-fashioned organ playing. There are always people outside to help direct traffic/parking. You can bring food inside and The Redford encourages people to visit the adjoining businesses. We always make a quick trip across the street for Sweet Potato Sensations as we never know what we are in the mood for but whatever it is it will be good. There is also a coffee shop next door to the theare that had good coffee, treats, and service.

Beautiful older theater that shows classic movies and more. Organ playing before the show and they even play the National Anthem. This is a must see!

A grand movie palace. Good popcorn, friendly staff and actual FILM! Not digital...1600 seats and not a bad one in the house. A nostalgic evening.

Start off by realizing that George C Scott was once an usher here.This is a theater that has been renovated to restore the original 1920's appearance.Classic movies as they were meant to be seen, in an old fashioned movie palace.Many times the movies are complemented with appearances of the stars currently being featured.Tippi Hedren and Shirley Jones were here in the recent past and Rita Moreno and Fred Willard will be appearing when their movies will be shown later this year.Ticket prices of $4 to $6 are standard and the traditional movie concession stand popcorn and candy just add to the old time movie house feeling.

This theater has been renovated and absolutely beautiful. We attend movies here at least three times a year and we have never been disappointed. We take along our grandchildren so they can see what a theater was like many years ago. They have a beautiful pipe organ that rises from the orchestra pit. A wonderful experience!

Beautiful theater with great charm. It's a great way to see some of the classics on the big screen again. The organ performances before the films are a neat touch as well!

This place is gorgeous! One of the few atmospheric theatres still in existence. Music is played on the original Barton Theatre Organ 1/2 before each show. Vintage cartoons, classic films, musicals, popcorn and candy you can afford! There's nothing else like it around.

We went to the theater near Christmas time to see White Christmas. It was busy with families, but a very memorable visit. They had a train set up near the stage. The organist player Christmas music as the organ rose up on a platform. Beautiful theater. I think it might become an annual event for us.

Check their website to learn the schedule since they aren’t open every day. They always have live organ music before their movies. They have special shows with live entertainment during the holidays.The "theatre" (their spelling) has been beautifully restored and almost all of the work was done by volunteers. A local group that is dedicated to the preservation of pipe organs bought a theater organ that was left from the silent movie days and left it in place. The company that owned the building that housed the organ could no longer support itself by showing movies, so the group bought the building and started renovation. The project has taken years because they kept it true to the original decorations. Even if you don't plan to visit, you should find their website to read the history which is lengthy and interesting. They had to remove up to seven layers of paint to expose the original beautiful decorations. While any visit is a pleasure, I always go there to see the big-screen, musical movies that just are not the same on TV. As an added treat, their snack counter still serves freshly popped popcorn, not the stale popcorn you find at the big multiplexes. They even have real butter.The admission is around $5.00 which is a great bargain compared to what most movie theaters charge today.

If you want to take a step back in time and enjoy a good movie the way it was meant to be enjoyed then you need to check out the Redford. I have been coming here for over a decade and have seen and re-seen so many of my favorite flicks. White Christmas is a must in December. The volunteers are great and the Organ is amazing!

Loved, loved, loved this theatre. Very reasonable prices for entry and treats. All seats are very comfortable and have great sightlines. Parking is secured and right next to the theatre.
