We loved our visit to Seney Wildlife Refuge. It was one of the most enjoyable days we had while on our 5 day trip to the UP. The heavy rain did not hamper our drive but we do plan on going back in better weather. The staff at the Visitors center were great and we enjoyed watching a video of the park. Seney is a "must see" attraction for nature lovers. .

One of the finest places I have been to view wildlife up close. Amazing staff: very informative and friendly. Was impressed with the ability to get up close views of the wildlife.

They have summer interns who drive the tour busses on a one to two hour tour, stopping often for photo ops. We saw Hooded Mergansers, a beaver, Trumpeter Swans, Loons, many turtles and other wildlife and the tour guide was great at spotting and pointing these out. Well worth taking the time for this stop if you are in the area. They also have self guided auto tours in case you are there on the wrong day for the bus tours.

Don't miss it. The 7 mile driving tour is wonderful and picturesque. We saw tons of wildlife and took many photos. Stop at the nature center office, as they have tons of great suggestions.

We walked a path and drove the 7 mile loop. The visitor center was very informative. They gave us a lot of useful information and answered any questions we had. We watched the 15 minute video, which they will play for you whenever you are ready. Lots of birds to see. Take mosquito repellant as they were VERY BAD on the walking trails.

Driving from Munising to St Ignace on a blustery day, we came across the garden spot of Seney Wildlife Refuge. (OK, she needed a bathroom). First, the visitor center, staffed by volunteers is an absolute gem with a full spectrum of exhibits and history of the area. (Yes, the bathroom is fine), Spotting scopes on what is active today as well as lots to keep kids busy if they are bored with miles of trees. We took the 7 mile loop, stopping often, and thoroughly enjoyed the day. Loons, osprey and a multitude of birds just out of identification range.

We found this almost by accident and so glad we stopped. We were there on a chilly blustery day but the sanctuary is beautiful, lots of water, marshland, wildlife. We hiked the 1.4 mile loop and then drove the 7 mile scenic drive with several stops. Allow a couple of hours if you can. The staff at the nature center were very knowledgable and friendly.

Spectacularly beautiful! Lots of swans, loons, and cedar waxwings when we visited in August. We might have even saw a wood duck! WOW! This was one of the most terrific places I've ever been to!

All we saw were birds, but my granddaughter is a bird enthusiast so it was perfect! Swans, Loons, things she had never seen before.

Take your time on the marshland tour or to really experience Seney hike the backcountry. You are almost 100% guaranteed to see wildlife.

This is a beautiful tranquil place to observe nature in abundance. There are many birds and I see different things every time I visit. The 7 mile drive allows you to go at your own pace and allow others to pass you if they choose. There is a very nice visitor center with helpful volunteers. The staff is also very helpful and will answer and questions you have. This is a great place to take photos or just enjoy the views. Definite must for nature lovers.

Had no idea this place existed until we booked a hotel in Seney... What an amazing place! Would love to check out the trails next time, but we did the 7 mile auto tour this time... Was free and an incredible family nature experience. Would be so beautiful in the height of summer although the new fall colors were great too.

If you haven't gone yet, make time for a stop to the visitor's center and the drive through the refuge. We saw an osprey on its nest, a parent loon feeding its young and an osprey chasing a bald eagle. AMAZING!

The story behind this preserve is interesting in itself -- the remnants of the logging industry turned failed farmland turned CCC project of the 1930's. It was a beautiful drive through a series of ponds that serve as the home of swans, geese, loons, ducks, eagles, beavers and deer. We saw them all during the late-afternoon drive. This was well worth the drive to see the refuge.

Seney has 95,000 acres and is a wonderful place to visit if you enjoy birds and animals in their natural habitat. We had a grand morning with Jim, a volunteer, who took us on a drive thru the refuge and pointed out many birds and animals and was a wealth of information.
