we went here just to kill some time with the family while we were all together and actually enjoyed the day. it was very quiet and no one else was there which is a shame as it is very nice. local history is the theme. very odd hours. you will want to check in advance if they are open on the date you wish to go.

The Holland Museum is small but packed with plenty of information relating to Holland Michigan. We enjoyed the slow pace and took our time really perusing the museum. The special exhibit of Nazi propaganda was interesting. I wasn't impressed with the Dutch impressionists but maybe I just need to expand my art history. While in Holland, give this museum a try.

We like to stop at this museum at least once a year, the exhibits chance often, and it is always a fun and interesting experience.

Entertaining and educational - plus it's free! Exhibits are very nicely done with signage explaining all. Receptionist is available to answer questions and is friendly. Gift shop. Located downtown so easily accessible.

Housed in the former Holland Post Office the building's architecture and skillful layout of the exhibits make this a very enjoyable part of any trip to Holland. The Local History Gallery was such a delight to tour, open and easy access. Especially rewarding was the fine collection of Dutch paintings. We left with a greater appreciation of the unique culture of Holland and the Dutch people.

Small museum giving lots of information about the history of Holland and with special exhibitions (we saw one about the Nazis in Holland (Europe) which was fascinating. Definitely worth a visit if you are interested in finding out about where you are staying. There is a small charge but small museums like this need our contributions to keep going so I think it's worth it.

I grew up in the area, but have only been to this museum one other time. My husband and I made a random trip a few days ago. It is small in size, but really contains a lot of information about Holland's heritage, growth and development over the years. Currently, there is an exhibit of Nazi propaganda posters- that was very interesting. The upstairs area has some very nice paintings and artwork- including one tiny Rembrandt. :) Overall- I would recommend this museum. It it is even free to Holland residents.

We took our three grandchildren to this charming museum. The primary exhibit area included many artifacts about the Dutch culture, boating, Lake Macatawa, etc. The temporary exhibit of Nazi Propaganda posters was fascinating. The second floor has an assortment of furniture (amazing) and art. With a family, allow an hour to an hour and a half. Adults without children would spend about two hours probably.

There are some magnificent paintings upstairs. Ask about the love story relating to the spectacular oil on wood portraits.

I really liked the temporary exhibits and the permanent exhibit was very nice as well. The admission was $10 per person though (I think) and I think that was a bit expensive for the amount of things to see in the museum. It was nice nonetheless.

While at Tulip Festival my sister and I went to the Holland Museum. They had some interesting exhibits from the early years, paintings, furniture. Some really interesting pieces. There were people available to answer any questions and tell you more facts about the exhibits. It was well worth the price of admission and took about an hour.

There are other things in the museum but I especially enjoyed the Dutch exhibits and history of the town. Things are nicely displayed and there is someone available to give you additional information should you want it. Parking is located just behind the museum or if you are lucky, there is street parking also. If you are a visitor to Holland, make it a must see!

What a gem, with interesting history of Holland and area Lakeshore. Fabulous Dutch Oil Paintings, Decorative Arts and furniture from the 1600's. Very informative temporary exhibits and there are two houses to tour from the 1800's.

We visited the museum on Veterans Day only to unexpectedly find ourselves in the middle of a ribbon cutting ceremony for four local residents who had received honors for their service during World War II. It was a treat to hear the only lady speak about her background as a Nurse and service during wartime. The docent on duly was extremely helpful in explaining how the Dutch had arrived in Holland MI, their connection with the land, Indian's, and the waterways. She took us from their arrival to modern times via stories and various exhibits. We were encouraged to stop, read, and enjoy all the first floor exhibits and when ready she would take us to the second floor gallery. The second floor gallery contains some old masters on loan from a private collector, other museums, and some purchased pieces. Her knowledge of the artists, their styles, and Holland's history as depicted in some works was fabulous. Being visitors to the area, she recommended places for lunch, must see galleries and shops along 8th Street, and landmarks worth short drives from the Historic center. The topper was cake and coffee served as part of the days events.Worth a visit especially if you take advantage of the docent service.
