Look for groupons. 2 tours, north and south.North goes to the end of the river, past many historical sites South goes near Bob Lo, Grosse Ile and Canadian side of the river. Both are great ways to spend a couple of hours-very relaxing and fun. There are also snacks available on board.

This is a two hour tour of the Detroit River. The narrative includes historic information. This was very interesting and very well done. I got a groupon - 10.00 per person so check around for a discount.

On a beautiful Sunday afternoon in July we climbed aboard Diamond Jack's boat for a two hour cruise up and down the Detroit river. The boat heads north and continues all the way up to Lake St. Claire before turning around and heading back down past Windsor. Probably the best part about this trip is the continuous narration, pointing out all of the sights along the river. We had never been to Detroit before and it really helped us understand the layout and history of the area. It helped that it was a really lovely day. While a bit breezy, the view from the front of the boat was panoramic. Even though it was a really nice day, the boat was not crowded; there was no reason to make a reservation before going. And, despite the fact that the sign said that it was cash only, we found that they did take credit cards. There is no ticket office. They simply set up a table in front of the boat about 20-30 minutes before sailing. They sail rain or shine, but I do not think this would be particularly pleasant in inclement weather. At $17/person this was well worth it.

The boat left Wyandotte and took us around Grosse Ile, Boblo and Amherstburg, Ontario. We saw freighters and the island where BASF has a lodge for executives-quite impressive. The boat was full and we tried to stay in the covered part, and the temperature was just right. I could see bringing a jacket, if cool, but the warm breeze was perfect with shorts and short sleeves. A nice experience I would repeat.

We like to take guests to the area on the cruise (from either location). We watch for specials so we can get a bargain. Narration is always on the spot and accurate. It is a good way to see Detroit (on the upper cruise) and the factories that were part of 'the arsenal of democracy', downriver life and mogal estates (on the lower cruise). Your choice.

We took the Diamond Jacks tour from Atwater street. We went towards Belle Isle circled around it then headed for Ambassador bridge. Over all the boat trip was pleasant. The boat was clean, the personal were friendly and well groomed. There were drinks and snacks for sale on board the boat. Our only complaint was the narration of the sites along the shore. Several people asked that the sound be turned up, but it didn't help-- the sound from the speakers were like that of a A & W drive in back in the 1950's. We were seated near a speaker and could barely hear or understand what was being said. Over all it was a pleasant trip on a beautiful day weather wise but it could have been more enjoyable with a better sound system

I would love to live here." I was amazed not because I was visiting Detroit, but because I live in the suburbs! It was the first time I can ever remember feeling optomistic and hopeful about the City of Detroit. The park where the boat docks is clean and accomodating, and the River Walk attached is inviting. The tour itself is informative and gives a really nice overview both of the history of Detroit, as well as a look into the way the city is re-inventing itself.

This was a wonderful way to spend 2 hours. Very relaxing, crew is friendly and the guide did a great job of telling the history for both the American and the Canadian sides.

The boat was very nice, very clean, friendly staff. The narrated tour pointed out all the highlights. The problem is: there aren't a lot of highlights. There's lots of dead space along the way. They could improve by telling us a little more of the history of the city, perhaps. It's pleasant enough. Some of the Canadian stuff was interesting. I wouldn't race back, though.

They have two tours - one that leaves from Rivard Plaza in Detroit which they call their Upper Detroit River Tour, and one that leaves from Bishop Park in Wyandotte which they call their Lower Detroit River Tour. We took the Upper River Tour. It's not in Lincoln Park, that's where their PO BOX is. This should be listed in Detroit, their Wyandotte location is listed separately.The boat looks to be in good shape. Long line, as most people seemed to pay with cash (no credit cards) in line, we had a prepaid Groupon trip so just handed those over. Their upper deck is partially covered (on the Diamond Queen), and they have plastic chairs on it that you can move around. Fixed benches would probably provide more seating, but then they couldn't as easily clear the area for other uses. Lower deck (where we were) has tables and chairs. A lot of the chairs could use a cleaning, as could the tables, which are heavily worn with chipped edges. Windows, most of which were open (it was warm) had a lot of spider webs in them), and are up a bit high for a great view but usable. Higher seats would have been better. Bathrooms serve 1 at a time. They did a brisk bar/snack business, but unfortunately served a drunk repeatedly who kept coming over by us to drink his beer so his family (with wife, son, daughter in-law and granddaughter) didn't see him greedily suck another beer down. Should not be serving people in that condition. We then went upstairs to find that all the chairs had been rearranged and it was difficult to navigate around the deck. Tour provided via PA system, somewhat hard to hear below decks. There's maybe 1/2 dozen things of interest on the 2 hour tour, the Detroit River also has a lot of things that aren't scenic.Because we went with friends this was ok. Had we been real tourists, it would have been a disappointment (we live in the general area).
