We have a summer home up this way and often cross the bridge to the Upper Peninsular to enjoy the beach along Rt. 2 as well as going up to see Lake Superior and the many attractions in the Upper Peninsular. Best to buy a pass if you plan to travel it several times during the year.

Very nice place to stop and look at the scenery. Great picture opportunities during winter and summer. Lots of tourists spots and souvenir shops. Plenty of good places to eat as well.

Crossing this bridge can be scenic, interesting, and even dangerous for an interstate bridge. Weather is a major issue due to ice and wind. They were doing rail repair on both north and southbound lanes when we were they. I have been told cars have actually go through the rails in the past. The speed limit is determined by the wind which can make the bridge swing. This is an important landmark that one needs to experience.Locals say one must cross "the bridge."

Only the most jaded person will not be moved by the majestic beauty of this bridge. The functionality aside, the bridge and surrounding areas offer a whole day of activities to enjoy. The highlight is driving on the bridge and taking in the watery horizons. On Labor Day, the bridge is open to pedestrians to cross on foot.

Beautiful views while crossing the bridge. It is a man made phenomenon. $4.00 toll and a great rest area with lost of good travel information.

Born in Michigan, but left 40+ years ago, so for my 65th Birthday, my husband took me on our tour of PureMichigan! Crossing the Mackinac Bridge was the highlight of our trip! We took the ferry to Mackinac Island and went under the bridge. Be sure to read some history of the bridge before you actually get there...it will add to the "awe" of the experience.

Traveling with a friend who fears crossing this bridge was an experience, especially since it is not my favorite thing to do either. However, she drove one way, and I drove on the return. We survived. It is an impressive bridge!

I was taken by surprise when I was charged $4 both ways. It seems extreme. We have been over the long bridge in Louisiana and it cost nothing. Different governments I guess. Otherwise, enjoy the bridge and the view.

Heard about it and thought it was a long one, well, not so long. The view from ferry is much better than driving through it.

First, there is constant construction/painting going on. Only in the winter have I been across it w/o having one lane closed. Second, it's the longest on this side of the planet. What more do you need to say? Motorcyclists, I go across it on my bike but I'm not a fan of the metal grating in the center. It makes for an "interesting" ride. Try it and you'll see what I mean. I have yet to encounter a time where the bridge was shut down due to high wind but it does happen sometimes.

We love crossing the Mighty Mac going either way. the views are always amazing and different. We like looking for boats, admiring the towers, and marking the midway point. We don't really care for the grid part of the bridge but know that it is necessary. As is the constant maintenance both necessary and an annoyance.

The Mackinac Bridge is currently the fifth longest suspension bridge in the world. The bridge is quite awesomely structured and Engineered. It stand tall & long and is a good drive on the bridge. The bridge carries 2 lanes each side and is well paved. You will have to pay $4/car toll each way.

This is one the most fun, spectacular and amazing thing to do on Labor Day! We have now completed walking the Mighty Mac three times as family. Every time we walk, we are amazed at how well this event is organized. This year we stayed in Saint Ignace, did the walk to Machinaw City, and then my husband got the bus back across to Saint Ignace to pick up our car. We won't do that again, as it took too long to get back across the bridge. It is wonderful walking with all the age groups. The views are spectacular!

Nice drive from lower Michigan to the Upper Peninsula. The 4+ mi. journey doesn't take long, but offers spectacular views of Lakes Michigan and Huron, including Mackinac Island. One pleasant notation, big trucks have a lower speed limit and are required to stay a certain distance apart. Good thinking MDOT!

Not sure how anyone rates this less than 5 stars, but read and visit yourself to see. Simply one of the great marvels of mandkind, a wonderful visit and experience.
