I have golfed this course twice in the last two months and both times the pace of play was ridiculous and not managed well at all. The first time we golfed here it took five and a half hours to play 18 holes, having to wait10 to 15 minutes at each hole. Today was not any different. We love MSU and are diehard fans, but unfortunately we are not fans of either the east or west courses.

This is the less glamorous of MSU's two 18 hole courses, but still a very, very good course. It's also right next to MSU's award winning practice facility, so it's great to warm up and then wander right over to the first hole. The layout is fair for golfers of all levels and the maintenance is usually excellent. Greens are big and roll true. No alcohol served anywhere on the course. It can also get pretty crowded but rangers try to keep things moving along.

I really enjoy playing this course. It may be because of the Spartan connection initially, but as I walk the course, I'm reminded of how well its laid-out, especially the par threes. Again, its a nice layout, but the course itself needs some work. There are fungal infections all over the course that is killing the grass. Other than that making for a poor golf surface, it also detracts from the MSU agriculture field in which they're known for their ability to grow and maintain outstanding grass.

It had been 40 years since I played it as a student! I barely remembered many of the holes, but what a great fun course! I was most impressed with the younger players being taught there as a summer clinic as I had to play through several groups. They have been taught the golf etiquette and proper ways to play and THAT above all says a lot about MSU and the people who run it.
