Why is lots of land noteworthy? Because when you view the animals here, you feel as though they are well cared for and that their habitat has been thoughtfully created. Binder Park Zoo participates as an active member of many conservation efforts. The African Savannah is very well done. I love the aviary as well. When you think of zoos, what do you think about? Giraffes, lions, and other big "wow" animals, right? Well here at Binder Park, each animal is well cared for and the zoo keepers can tell you why each animal is a treasure. Ask them. The children's area is a bit dated but nice. A good zoo, but an excellent amazing regional zoo.

While they need to maximize on more of their available space this zoo is very nice for the Battle Creek area! Feeding the giraffes is a favorite for our family.

We moved to the West Michigan area about 10 years ago and hear a lot of hype about this zoo. We finally had a chance to check it out and were let down. The safari where you can pet the giraffes was fun but that is about the only really interesting thing here. There are some nature walk trails but it is nothing you can't see on a township trail in any other part of the state. It's fun for a day, but it is not the kind of place that would be a repeat visit. It is great that they are involved with so many conservation projects. It was interesting reading about everything they have been involved with.

This is a small but cozy, friendly, multi-activity based zoo, with monkeys, birds, cheetah, kangaroo, prairie dogs and more. There is a merry-go-round, child's park, train ride, tram ride, and marvelous wooden walk walks and paths to wander and explore. The Wild Africa display is a joy- with up-close and personal encounters with giraffe and more.Close, easy, free parking.Great signage, plenty of food and drinks for sale, nice gift shop. We have a family membership which saves us lots during the season.

This zoo is a great place to visit. The staff is very friendly. Love love feeding the giraffes! They also have a wonderful wine tasting event with yummy pairings of food, a must go if you love wine! It is a relaxing evening touring the zoo and visiting different Michigan wine vendors.

This zoo draws from more than the local area due to the well kept grounds and well cared for animals. Don't pass up a chance to visit, whether you are seniors, newly weds, with young children or with teens.

While not as big as some, this zoo is well laid-out and maintained, providing a great place to take kids to see the animals. The giraffe feeding place is a big hit.

I'm not really a zoo person. I tend to feel bad for the animals that are caged in concrete and steel bars. This place tries to stay away from following what modern big city zoos do. Plan on spending half the day walking around seeing everything.

We love the Binder Park Zoo - It has everything that we need, minus the traffic, parking hassles, crowds and long, kid-unfriendly walks and distances. We enjoy the tram ride to “Africa” and especially enjoy feeding the giraffes (can’t do that at the bigger mega-zoos). Animals appear well-taken care of. They have a great carousel and also have a train ride available. Petting zoo is great for little kids.Light shows at Christmas and ZooBoo at Halloween are fun special events too.

The best part about this zoo is the african safari. I love that they have the train like thing that takes you from america to africa. You can walk too and is the best option if your a smoker.

Family fun for all. Travel to Wild Africa or watch the snow leopards play. Ride the train or the carousel. Binder Park has something for the entire family.

Binder Park Zoo is a little treasure in Battle Creek MI! We have had a family membership since we first moved to town in 1998. Very doable in one day. Animals are in nice and roomie enclosures so you don't feel like they are suffering or on display but rather in a habitat they enjoy. The addition of the Africa exhibits was a wonderful change and added a great variety of new animals to the Zoo. The first time our family arrived in "Africa" from the "Zebra Train" we were in awe. Walking up to the overlook you peer out into the 'Savanah' and view a variety of antelope, ostrich, zebras and giraffe grazing away. It felt so authentic with woods bordering the enclosure. The Zoo is convenient to I-94 and I-69. Don't miss it if you are in the area or passing this way.

Binder Park Zoo has lots going for it. It is small but they have made a great effort to make things interesting and educational. The front section has smaller animals, birds and reptiles. They have bear cubs, wolves and even prairie dogs. They also have a carousel for kids to ride and a petting zoo with a llama or two. Wild Africa is accessed by a tram ride and has giraffes and zebras. There are trails through the woods and also wooden walkways that lead to animal exhibits. There are special events planned throughout the season such as the Zoo Boo at Halloween and even a wine-tasting event for adults in the fall. Many days there are special outdoor presentations. I even saw a wedding there, once. I've been to the zoo many times and always have a good time. It can be pricey if you opt for a lot of food and/or souvenirs. But, for families with little kids it's easily done in a day or even an afternoon.
