I really think Crystal is laid out nicely for family skiing. Off of the Thor lift there is a good mix of blacks, blues and greens. The high speed Crystal Clipper is nice for hammering out mostly blues and greens. The same for The Ridge and North Face lifts. The Buck lift is the only one that carters to predominately black runs (which is good if your with advances skiers)Unlike Boyne Mountain, this might not be the place to go with buddies though as daytime boozing spots and nighttime bars is limited.

Crystal Mountain is conveniently located in Northern Lower Michigan and not far from Traverse City. The runs are very well maintained and the restaurants are great. This is a terrific family outing, with everything from a magic carpet for beginners to double black diamonds and a couple solid terrain parks. The rental skis are topnotch and their rental facility is staffed by courteous people who are helpful and friendly. A great place to visit for a day or spend a week.

This was our first time taking a grandson with us to Crystal. We needed to rent his equipment and had no idea what we needed to do. We were well take. Care of and explained all things we needed to know. I signed our grandson up for a private lesson for snowboarding and the instructor was knowledgeable and got him to try new things. My grandson LOVED his experience. We were there three days in a row and did not have a bad experience at all.

Crystal Mountain is excellent skiing, easy drive from Grand Rapids, with staff and facilities that are just right.

I recently turned 66 and started downhill skiing again after a long hiatus. Crystal Mountain is close by and now that I have had experience with their first-class service, I know I will become a regular. No matter the job they do, virtually every employee I have encountered this winter has been extremely friendly, wonderfully helpful, and totally dedicated to customer service. I've also had several meals during ski breaks and the food is modestly priced as well as being delicious. If you are looking for a safe, friendly ski resort, this is the place. There is no need to spend a fortune for a quality ski experience when you have such a fine place so close. M. DelpInterlochen, Michigan

I liked the snowboarding, breakfast at the Wild Tomato, and accommodations. The ski package is a pretty good deal if you choose a mid-week stay such as arrive on Monday and leave on Friday.

Didn't know what to make of Crystal Mountain, signed up for a convention here , never been before. The vertical was listed at 300 ft, I thought might be like mt. brighton, not even close... From the arrival into the well maintained , "mini town ", to the check in at the lodge , I was very impressed. The ease for access to the hills, the amenities offered and the shear number of trails( 50) made for a wonderful ski vacation, especially for families. Nothing to grueling yet multiple options for all skill levels and very little wait on the chairs. The scenery is also rather breathtaking for Michigan( not known for its mountains). Highly recommend, can't wait til my seminar next year.

Over New Year's break we had our children and six grandchildren at our cabin near Crystal Mountain. They all wanted to go skiing. However, some were experienced skiers and others had never skied. We were able to make skiing arrangements for all of them, even the 4 year old. The arrangements were complicated, but were made without a mistake by the friendly Crystal Mountain staff. The lessons were excellent. Even the skilled skiers learned some new skills. The day was enjoyed so much that most of them went back for a second day of skiing. My wife and our teen aged granddaughter went to the spa and said it was heavenly. All together another great Crystal Mountain experience.

The runs offer a variety of ski levels. Rentals are nice. The lodge is beautiful. Overall, this facility is efficient and well run, clean and neat. Our favorite ski resort.

I think this place is listed at 375 feet but the hill is very well laid out and keeps crowds spread out. We went over New Years and they were 100% open. The runs were groomed well and the lift lines moved along really well. Food is overpriced as all ski areas are but not as badly overpriced. If I had a complaint, it would be the lodge area is too small to handle the crowd. I would go back to this place.

I love skiing at Crystal Mountain. This place is clean, beautiful, has several runs and lifts and very friendly service. We arrived in the rain and were hopeful that it would stop, so we bought our day pass and hit the slopes. I was amazed that the slopes were in such good condition given the above freezing temps and pouring rain. The staff kept working the lifts even though we were some of the only people enthused enough to continue skiing. Disappointing weather but a great resort! Will visit again in better weather.

There hasn't been much snow this year yet, but Crystal Mountain has made tons of their own snow, and almost all of their runs were open. The runs are not as long as Boyne Mountain, but there were a lot more runs open than there were are Boyne 3 days earlier. The North face seems to have better snow (and is less used) than Main street (which was very sloppy). The only downside to Crystal was that you had to go down sloppy Main Street to get to food, beverages and bathrooms at the Lodge - there are no other places on the slope to go.

We stayed in the Wintergreen Condos, very clean and the beds were very comfortable. We had never been to Crystal Mountain before. What a nice place! My husband and I went North for the Fall colors, it was just beautiful. The whole area is very scenic. You are not far from Lake Michigan and Crystal Lake, both very nice to drive to. If you want to go a little farther you can stop at Sleeping Bear Dunes N.P. Lots of nice Northern Michigan towns to visit. The only bad thing, was the service at The Red Tomato Restaurant, at Crystal Mountain. The food was good, but I don't think anyone properly trained our waitress. The hostess actually took our order and brought us our food. Other than that it is a very nice resort.

The activities are fun for adults and children as young as 3, the food is amazing, and the rooms are very nice. Not to mention the resort is just beautiful! The Thistle has great food, and The WIld Tomato's breakfast buffet is extensive and tasty. It was great! We will be going back! We went from here to the Grand Traverse Resort (which is twice as expensive) and Crystal Mountain was far superior. Plus, the staff is so friendly!!! Great place!

The guys golfed and the ladies enjoyed the Signature Massage and Signature Facial at the Spa. The Spa services are incredible and both of us highly recommend you treat yourself to the pampering they provide. You can purchase all their products which are also found in all the overnight accommodations on site. We again stayed in the Cottages, but you can't go wrong wherever you decide to stay! Highly recommend!
