Great little place to spend an hour or two with the kids. Kids Under 12 - this an ideal indoor activity place! Our kids 6 and 4 enjoyed it.

We took our kids here to spend a couple of hours. As per some of the reviews, people are spending about 2 hours there. After 45 minutes, both of my kids had gone through every single center. They did it all. However were not bored at all. They kept going back to each center and trying different things. They very much enjoyed themselves and the best part, each item that they played with, they learned from. This is a great place if your kids like to touch things as we were told, if it is out there, they can pick it up, play with it and manipulate it. Perfect for my kids. The only thing that was holding this place back is that literally you can do everything in such a short time frame.

Discovery Space is a great small science center conveniently located in downtown State College. We have visited on several occasions, and they change the exhibits frequently. Every time we visit, my girls (now 4 and 7) have fun and learn a few new things too. We have seen the exhibits getting better and better since our first visit to Discovery Space in September, 2012. We have a membership, which is great to use as part of ASTC passport program to gain free or reduced admission to other science centers throughout the country. We used our membership for admission to the science center in Boston and the Academy of Natural Sciences in Philadelphia. We had our seven-year-old daughter's birthday party at Discovery Space this past weekend, and I was pleased with everything. First of all, the kids (age ranges from 3 to 7) at the party thoroughly enjoyed the exhibits at the center. The kids bounced from exhibit to exhibit and were busy for a solid two hours. Secondly, since it is a small space, it is easy to keep track of your kids. This is a big plus with little ones! As part of the birthday party package, a Discovery Space employee gave a short presentation about the theme of our choice (we chose oceans) and then led a few activites. It was great! All of the staff were extremely helpful, friendly, and professional. I would definitely recommend a birthday party here.

This is an ok place to take your young children. If you have the membership which I do you can't complain about it being free. It is small but for my 2 yr old we can spend an hr or 2 in the afternoon with him running around and he loves it. It's no where near the size as other museums in the membership but we will come again.

We belong to a club of science facilities and this is our local facility. It's ok. I wouldn't pay the price if I didn't get in with my yearly membership. Some decent displays about our local ecology, but mostly bland with no "wow" factor.

Thank you for your evaluation of Discovery Space. Each semester, the PSU Mechanical & Electrical engineering students provide us with new exhibits, created as a semester project, on limited budgets. We have an exhibit from OMSI, opening September 25, called Eat Well, Play Well. It is an exhibit that will help children discover nutrition and fitness by making healthy choices. We will have this exhibit through December 31. Please come back and check it out.

We visited about a year ago. We got in at a discounted rate. Even with the discount it really didn't seem like there was much to do for the cost. We spent about 45 minutes there before we ran out of things to do. Also, the parking was somewhat of a pain.

Hands on for children. A nice change from electronics. They have the opportunity to manually explore ideas and see how it works out.

When we looked at the website, Discovery Space seemed like it would be a fantastic place to bring our three-year-old. We drove an hour to visit the museum and were surprised that it was only one room with very home made displays, many of which were broken or missing pieces. The very home made nature of the displays wasn't necessarily the problem; the missing pieces and disfuntional equipment made the entire place seem shoddy. When we did ask for help with the flood area, we had to ask a group of four employees before they directed us to another person for assistance. We were the ONLY family in there and there were five employees working (or not working). Luckily, the admisson only cost us $18 and also luckily, my three-year-old is entertained by almost anything. The website mentions animals and gardens; the animals are puppets and the gardens are raised beds bordering a parking lot in a 3 foot area. We will not be going back.
