My husband and I hold the zoo very close to us. We love spending days here. The bear enclosure definitely needs updated and has for a long time, but the aquarium is very fun.

The Pittsburgh Zoo and PPG Aquarium is a must-see attraction for any young families. They have recently upgraded several areas within the zoo and the aquarium is great. They have a train ride, as well as carousel, which operate when the weather permits. Cost is reasonable too.

Winter can be fun at the zoo. Saturday's and Sunday's if it is cold enough the penquins will be on parade outside beside the aquarium. They walk down the hill then back up. Around 11oclock but ask At the gate. The new arrangement for the African animals is so much nicer for viewing the giraffes and cats.

I have been to the zoo for a number of events and like the free parking. I remember the long trail between stations and always remember to wear comfortable shoes. The aquarium is my favorite spot. I enjoy seeing all the sea creatures especially the penguins.

Our Pittsburgh Zoo is absolutely amazing. They have so many animal exhibits to see both outdoor and indoor. They are very well set up for viewing all the animals. There are interactive exhibits for children to pet various animals as well. The aquarium is also awesome to see. We are very fortunate to be so lucky to have such a valuable resource so close to us. I would recommend taking some beverages in a travel cooler. We were there last summer on a very hot day and only able to purchase a drink in the cafe area which is located in the middle of the zoo. They did have vending machines located at the exit which would only sell soda. The vending machine with the water was broken.

Check out the Pittsburgh Zoo when visiting this fine city. There is some construction happening now for even more wonderful attractions. The walking is great but hey, take the trans for a small fee. You will go past the Tigers area and eventually see the two male Lions. When visiting the Elephants you will notice some cool things about the different elephant species (African and Asian Elephants) and notice so many things, like how the zoo is helping endangered species and how you can be an important part of it. There is a train ride and don't forget to get some souvenirs at the gift shop. The folks there are wonderful. Hungry? Well, help yourself to some delicious food at the zoo too. Check on the web site to locate any specials (like bringing in soda pop cans for savings on the zoo tickets) before arriving. Or, purchase the yearly pass to receive exclusive "members only" offers. It's AWESOME!!!!!

I moved closer to Pittsburgh and have always wanted to come here. I saw online that they advertised something called "Penguins on Parade". As a huge penguin lover, I was ecstatic! My mother came to visit and we decided to check it out. It ended up being a great program and I saw the lovely penguins. That is where the good ended. The place seemed almost closed down! We decided to explore and the polar bear and shark tunnels were closed for repair. No big deal, this stuff happens. Looking around, there were barely any animals. The ones we did see seemed greatly disturbed and the exhibits seemed almost downright cruel! The polar bears were greatly distressed and kept repeating gestures back and forth for over 30 minutes. Upon further research, I discovered that these moves reciprocate anxiety, anger, and depression. The further I went, I noticed all the bears are gone from the zoo (no notice when buying the tickets) except one. The one I found had no food or water near, no toys, and was sleeping on about a 5ft. diameter of straw. That's it. The poor seal lions were confined to a 6ft deep tub that was too small for them. The African animals were not view able from their indoor exhibit. The only ones we did see inside were the elephants. It was just such a huge disappointment. The animals seemed so sad and their exhibits neglected and too small. I feel really bad for these animals. What a way to live. The aquarium was honestly the only thing that seemed to have positives. It was well maintained. I just wish the penguin exhibit was bigger. It was too small for that many penguins. The aquarium is the only reason this is getting 2/5 points. I will not be returning.

Wonderful displays of so many animals with lots of written information available at each stop. This is a place to take the kids over and over. The food at the stand/restaurants is pretty awful - so either bring your own or just get ice cream. But the animals are terrific and there is a HUGE variety. Definitely a real community asset.

It's great for a few hours but after 2 you've seen everything. It's hard to actually make a day of it.

My husband and I are retired and have a membership to the zoo. We bring our grandchildren here often and they never get tired of going. Every visit is a new experience. We have had our pictures taken with the elephants and were able to touch one. We have fed a giraffe. The aquarium is my grandson's favorite place. He and I just sit and watch the sharks for long periods of time. I have found it also a great place to get your walking in. The food is not that great and a little pricey so I often pack us a picnic lunch. Seating can be a problem.

Pittsburgh zoo and aquarium is a great place to take the kids. It's a good workout too walking all the hills. I would not got on a super hot day, animals are lethargic and it stinks. Best time to go is spring like days when it's not blistering hot out. Pack your lunch to save cash!

We love going to the zoo. It's really pretty to walk through, and the animals are almost always visible in their natural habitats. There are several places to get a bite to eat or a snack, and more than one nice playground for the kids to take a break. There are many hills, though, so those who are not in good shape may have trouble with the walk throughout. Also can be really difficult to push a big stroller through here- I was thoroughly tired after doing the whole place with one. There is a tram that makes its way through the zoo, however, but I can't speak to that as I've not done it. We have done bigger zoos (i.e. Columbus), and while those are more splashy, this is a great zoo for a small city and you won't be as exhausted.

We have been zoo members for a long time. Its a great place to spend a morning or afternoon to walk about and enjoy the sights. We usually go on a weekday to avoid crowds. Exhibits are great animal views are wonderful. Staff answered questions with great pleasure. Food can get pricey when a group is involved.

The Pittsburgh Zoo is a beautiful zoo to walk through and the animal habitats are set up nicely for both the animals and viewers a like. There is free parking and a few places to eat. They have a wonderful children's section to play, including a petting zoo.

This is fun to travel through and see the animals in natural habitats. It is educational in an easy way. The kids can check in at different points to learn more about the animals. The aquarium is very beautiful and has hands on activities. There is a playground and so much to do that a whole day is needed. The entrance has two elevators for easy handicap access and strollers. It is open almost every day of the year but check times and dates.
