Great place to visit. Tour guides are very knowledgeable. Plenty of parking. Nice gift shop. A "cool" place to go on a hot summer day. I highly recommend it. Take the camera, you can get some great pictures inside the cave.A geocache also nearby if you enjoy hunting.

Indian Caverns was highly disappointing in regards to how much concrete and stone have been added. It is not the authentic cave the natives used. Neal the guide didn't seem to love his job and certainly not the small children in our group. He even went as far to call the one girl a "smarty pants". Not worth the drive or expense. Would recommend Penns Cave not far from this site.

I read on another review that it is a "mom & pop" experience. I couldn't agree more. It was a nice relaxing day. The caverns were cool (although I was a little surprised there wasn't more historical significance). The kids enjoyed "mining for gems" while we waited and feeding the beautiful rainbow trout in the creek. The guide was really informative and good with kids.One tip - there are specific tour times so be sure to look into that before you drive all the way out there. And be sure to bring a sweater it is really cold in the caves.

My boys (10,8,8) were there yesterday and they loved it. They were telling me how much fun it was and thanking me for bringing them while we were still on the tour. The buildings are definitely out dated and need sprucing up. When we arrived (we drove 2 hrs to go there) my first thought was omg what did I get us into but, we were pleasantly surprised by the awesome caves! Our tour guide was full of interesting facts and answered lots of questions for the group. Tours run on the hour and take about an hour. If you are in the State College area definitely go and see the caves! We are glad we went!!!

We were at Raystown Lake for a week boating. We had two mostly solid days of rain. We already saw Lincoln Caverns, so we decided to take the 1/2 hour trip from Huntingdon to Spruce Hill to kill some time. Nice 1/2 day trip. Pretty much a one person operation during the week, so if you get there and the door is locked, there are benches to wait at and you have access to the bathrooms. The gift shop is the typical for this type of place and kids will love it. The cost is $12 p/p for adults. It the kind of place I'd take picnic lunch, hit the cave and then eat and relax by the creek in the front. Our guide was nice and informative. The cave has a LOT of history and it cool to hear the story. My only recommendation is clean the bathrooms and get rid of the cider blocks at several locations inside the cave.

Drove very far to see this because ad say's it is 1 mile, it felt like one block, I was expecting a lot more. I wonder if the tour guide doesn't like kids and didn't give us the full tour?

I have been to the cave many times and have worked as a tour guide there as well. If you are looking for something fun to do with your family, you should consider it. They have a picnic area and there is a stream also. The place has changed a lot and I was a bit disappointed with the tour. They've taken out a lot of the "fun" stuff that we used to show. It's much more educational, which is a good thing but I think you can strike a nice balance between the fun and the education.

Indian Caverns is a nice hourlong tour of a cave given by what appears to be the lone employee. There is also fish feeding and picknicking available -- just like was the case back in 1929, when the current owners bought the place. This is a nice, low key experience and a pleasant drive as well.

Recently 40 scouts and 10 adults from Troop 31, Chadds Ford, PA spent two nights camping inside Indian Caverns. Scouts and adults alike had a fantastic experience and the boys can't wait to come back next year. The boys earned two merit badges and got to explore the two miles of caves that the general public does not get to experience, mostly because you have to crawl around to do it. The boys had a blast! One of their favorite areas was crawling through a narrow opening and then the room opening up into one where you could stand up. They got dirty and they learned a whole lot about archaeology and Indian lore and about geology. There are flush toilets outside the cave and a picnic area where we cooked our food. Our guide was terrific too. We came from Chester County and the only downside was the long drive to get there and back. If you are a boy scout or girl scout troop that is within 3 hours of Indian Caverns you should plan an outing here in the fall. You won't be disappointed.

I liked how you get very educated tour guides. anther thing was that it was very interesting, even my5 yr old sister enjoyed it.

The State College area has a number of caves that you can visit, and Indian Caverns should be on your "must see" list. The tour is about an hour and the guide is very informative about the history of the cave (some of which is very funny) and the geology of the cave. Even if you might have been to other caves in the area Indian Caverns is worth seeing because no two caves are alike. We will be back in the fall with a Boy Scout Troop when we will sleepover in the cave and the boys will also work on merit badges offered by the staff. Where else can you have an outing like that!

Indian Caverns was amazing. Our guide, Shawn, was knowledgeable and entertaining. The features of the cave were beautiful and to think it is millions of years old makes you realize what a wonderful world we live in.

Excellent tour. Listen and learn, there's a lot of information here on local history and geology. Ask questions. Several of the tour guides are locals and know the history very well. Tips: If you're over six feet tall, watch your head. Look to Groupon for deep discounts occasionally (we just paid $22 for four). And stop at the Spruce Creek Tavern for wings and fries.

This was a great place for kids to see! The cavern itself was beautiful to look at. The was fun with a sense of humor. However was gracious in answering all questions the tour goers asked. The gift shop had a nice assortment of things. The best was panning for gems- the kids had a blast! Overall a nice family place to visit!

Privately owned Cavern with lots to see. Natural surroundings and Native American look to the Building. For three of us Seniors....Hubby, his Sister and I we did great in this Cavern, despite the climbing, and tight areas to walk through. Warning .....a lot of twists and turns, ducking, and tight spots along with possible wet flooring after rain. Do not wear flip-flops in this cavern.....good supportive walking shoes or sneakers are a must on slippery walks. Very interesting History and natural formations in this Cavern make a great tour. Wear a light jacket seeing it's in the 56 degrees in there. Great underground wonderland of water works and nature. Great Native American gifts, and gem panning. Our tour guide was great and he gave a us a humor along with rich Native American History and was very knowledgeable about Cave history. He made fun for all. There is a steep walk uphill to the building from the parking lot. Lots of free parking below with picnic tables by a stream. Nice peaceful place. Bus load of kids pulled in after us. These kids were in for a hike underground ....they must of slept good that night...LOL! 10% discount coupon to print out for the family. Fishing available also.
