Have you ever wondered what you would find if you opened a door that had been locked for half a century? The Best analogy I can think of is that shot in the Wizard of Oz when Dorothy opens the door from her black-and-white world and sees Oz for the fist time. Until you start seeing what you are really looking at you won't grasp the significance of this tableau. This isn't just trains or buildings or cars or models, this is America. This is where our grandparents lived before we became "sophisticated" and "trendy" before we buried our faces in personal devices and spoke to people and knew our neighbors. Wearing out after decades in this location with many items close to a century old I hope it lasts for many generations more. A touchstone to that gentler, kinder time which never really existed except in our imagination.

This is an incredibly large indoor miniature railroad & village display with a nostalgic flair. Our 12 year old is a fan of trains so she enjoyed the display and working the interactive buttons. Another reviewer described this place well.... 'a slice of Americana from an idyllic bygone era'. A nice activity to experience.

We had never heard about this and just decided to stop in on our travels past there. We were amazed by the size detail and love that has gone into this wonderful hidden gem. We loved it and have already returned once. We will definitely be back!

In this day and age where most families are attracted to overpriced theme parks, it is nice to see that this classic tourist attraction has not been changed by the commercialism that most places have fallen to. I visited when I was 10 years old, and just went back for the first time last week; I am 59 now! This place hasn't changed, and that is a good thing. Trains, towns, moving figures, all describing America since the 1700's! 8000 square feet of fun, with the night time scene ending with Kate Smith singing God Bless America. It is billed as the "World's Greatest Indoor Miniature Village", and that it is! And for an adult admission of $6.75, this might be the best tourist attraction bargain ever! This is an attraction for all ages; not to be missed!

Place was AMAZING!!!!...Our three girls (7,8,10) loved going around and using all the interactive buttons and looking at the layout form different levels. Price is reasonable and felt good to know that there is still places like this that are just plain good ole fashion family fun and run by the families that started them!!!

It was neat to see once. We wouldn't have to go back. They did take a lot of time setting it up originally. It's a cute trip for little kids. There are buttons to push to make things interactive like trains. You can walk around the entire set up. There are viewing platforms to have a better view from above. They have a gift shop, bathrooms and free parking. The price wasn't bad either.

Like many other reviewers, I first visited Roadside America as a child. Now, several decades later, I still enjoy stopping by - if only to get the feeling of being transported back in time and just reveling in the atmosphere of a bygone era of highway travel. The construction of the entire layout was certainly a labor of love for the creator. Don't expect everything to be in perfect scale - it doesn't matter, as this is folk art - things don't have to be perfect! Allow yourself a good hour to study the layout. And don't forget to walk up the steps to the elevated viewing balconies on each side. The perspective from up there really adds to the experience. And, by sure to stick around for the "nighttime presentation" - it may just bring a tear to your eye.

My wife remembers coming to Roadside America as a child and wanted our boys to experience it, too. I had never seen it and didn't know what to expect. All I can say is, "WOW." This miniature village/train garden is huge and the attention to detail is just amazing. Our boys loved pushing the buttons to make trolleys, people, animals, etc... move. They also enjoyed the night display. I was drawn in by the history of the exhibit and the nostalgia. It really is a throw back to much simpler time. If you're on I-78, take the time to stop off and see this one-of-a kind display. We will definitely be visiting again.

Roadside America is truly one of the few experiences available where you can take your grandchildren to see exactly what you would have seen as a child. My wife said she went on a school field trip to Roadside America in 1967, and it looks the same today. The miniature villages portray a slice of Americana from an idyllic, bygone era. And who doesn't like toy trains? Plus you can push a button and make things move. Some say it is hokey and outdated, but I for one appreciate the old school charm.

We happened upon this on accident on a roadtrip. Here's how the first ten minutes went...Me: Well, I guess. We have some time to kill. Let's go check this out.Friend: (Unexcited) Yeah, ok. [Walk in}Store owner: It'll be $8 a piece girls.Us: What?! To see a miniature village?! .....ok. Two minutes later we walked through the current and our jaws completely dropped. What the store owner DIDN'T mention, was that this miniature village is actually an ENORMOUS village of miniature houses, trains, people, forests, and even a flying helicopter. The village was started decades ago and grew bigger and bigger, and was eventually carried on by family members of the creator. It is not to be missed! It's incredible!

This is a very cute miniature train village that the children love. It has not been updated in quite some time, but still a must see if you haven't already done so.

I remember my parents taking me here. Was so happy when I was doing some surfing on the internet and found this. My husband and I took a road trip with our 6 & 12 yr old grandsons and 17 yr old granddaughter. That makes our ages from 6 to 61. We all had a wonderful time. Just an amazing place to visit. Great price.

Have passed by this one for years - finally decided to stop with my Daughters & am glad we did. There is a lot to see here - it will definitely be a hit with younger folks & people into nostalgia. The interactive displays were a hit as well as the 'night view'. I'd recommend stopping by while in the area!
