My family and I went to Maiolatesi Winery on October 24th for their pizza night. We thought this sounded like a great idea for a Friday night of wood fired pizza and good wine. We had to call ahead and let them know we were ruuning late do to an acident on Rt.81. They were very understanding and said they would hold our table until we got there. And are we glad they did. Wd had several varieties of wine which were all very good but the wood fired pizza was amazing! Everyone had something different and they all tasted amazing. Dont think of this like pizza from your corner pizza shop. This is higher end gourmet pizza. We had 9 pizzas and 7 bottles of wine. Our bill was $200 including the tip. We will definitely be back for another pizza night at Maiolatesi Winery! We had a blast!!!

We've made two stops to Maiolatesi Winery while visiting our daughter at the University of Scranton and give the place a confident "Excellent" rating. Sal "the wine guy" features some surprisingly good wines - surprising because who goes to look for wine in Lackawanna County, PA? We particularly enjoyed the dry red varieties, especially the Meritage selection. They also feature a number of sweet, fruit infused wines that we did not care for - not because they aren't good, rather because we don't care for that kind of "wine." Sal took a great deal of time with us when we expressed interest in his red varieties. They are clearly the pride of his craft. We also visited the Friday night Pizza event and had a great time. The place was very busy - make a reservation - and featured a nice variety of wood-fired oven pizzas all made to order. In short, Maiolatesi Wine Cellars is well worth a visit. We intend to become regulars during our visits to the Scranton area.

Just did the Friday sunset wine and specialty pizza night on the deck. We had it all great sunset view on the deck, pizza made to order, wines for everyone's taste. Sal and Bob made sure the service, food and wine keep coming. Just one seating so you can take your time and enjoy. They did have a special guest as we watched a bear cross the valley.

When visiting my in-laws in Forest City, PA we always make time for a visit to Maiolatesi. They have some very good wines. Our favorite is the Cab-Franc. A clean and comfortable tasting room. And very clean restrooms. The view off the deck is something you can sit and enjoy with views of the surrounding mountains. On Friday nights they have a brick oven pizza on site cooking some of the best pizza I've ever had. They also have music on Fridays. You need to make reservations for the Fridays, limited seating and I think they try to space out the pizza orders. If you're in the area and stop in make it a Friday and you'll be back for sure.

Good Pennsylvania winery, has wines from sweet to dry and they are all very good. Great views with decks to enjoy them on. Service is great and they are all very friendly. Highly recommend.

My girlfriend and I have been here many times, friday entertainment, pizza nites, and celebrations. Sal the owner and staff are delightful, freindly and great wines. One of the coolest little wineries around, the location is just lovely with a fantastic view from the deck and really neat shop inside. If you're ever close by don't miss it, they don't disappoint....They have a great opening for the summer late may every year with great bands and atmosphere, check out their site on facebook....

My wife and I stopped by here while in town for a Baby Pens hockey game and had a tremendous time and some great wine. We stopped at the store and picked up some wine and crackers and was able to do a tasting and then purchase a bottle to relax in their tasting room for a nice relaxing afternoon. The people there were very friendly and helpful, definitely a nice place to check out if you are in the area.

Our family stopped here (4 adults) last weekend, after the Steamtown Marathon, and we all couldn't have been happier we did! The owner/winemaker did our tasting, and was so accommodating, despite being very booked that Sunday. He couldn't have been nicer. Plus-we loved the wines! We are red wine drinkers, so that was what we tasted, and loved all of them, which never happens! We also had the fire roasted pizzas, which were wonderful too. All in all, a great place, great people, great wines, and will definitely come back.

We were visiting the Nanticoke area. My husband googled wineries in the area, and read the reviews and their web site info. We decided since we like sweet wines and they seemed to have an abundance, a side trip was needed. We had a little trouble finding the place based on our GPS. Look for the big barrels out front. Sal and his wife were very welcoming. We enjoyed talking to both of them about their winery and their wine. The owner Sal makes the wine. Is it a bad thing to have so many selections that we liked after the wine tasting?. We bought a varied selection of sweet wines and teas to complete a dozen and use a 10% discount. We also received our money back for the wine tasting, $6.00. Besides the great wine, the scenery inside and outside the winery was very nice. They have an outside setting to sip wine as well as the comfortable bar.

Location, location location. This winery has it all. A view from the deck that takes your breath away and relaxes you from any of the days worries. The tasting bar and wine cellar area is a beautiful setting to tastes the many wines that owner Sal personally makes. I have seen his wine making facility down stairs; it is amazing. My preference is to the semi-dry/dry wines, but Sal has a large selection that will meet everyone’s taste. The wines are as good as and in some cases better than a similar California selection. On this trip I purchase 7 cases for myself and family. We have been buying wines from Maiolatesi for 12 years and will continue. Check out his wesite.

My family and I have been going to Maiolatesi Wine Cellars since 2009 when the Scott Township location opened. They have a good variety of wines ranging from a delicious dry Cabernet Sauvignon to a delightfully sweet Cayuga White. Sal Maiolatesi takes great pride in making his wines and in his winery where many wine related items are sold. The cherry wood bar was crafted by his father and is quite beautiful. In the spring and summer, the deck is open and you can sip wine while enjoying the surrounding scenery. There are 2 other locations in the area where wine and gifts are sold, but the main location hosts many special events such as group tastings, theme parties and showers. If you are in the Scranton/Clarks Summit area and enjoy wine, it's worth a trip.
