For outdoor enthusiasts and nature lovers the nature preserve is a treasure. Trails follow Jordan Creek and wooded hills and beautiful scenery surrounds visitors.

Well maintained building and trails for hiking. Beautiful view of the valley from atop the building. I love going there to watch the sunset, it's never the same view twice.

It is an amazing park and zoo. Very very clean and just a beautiful area. Jordan Creek which meanders thru the preserve is a very pretty stream. Definitely will go back.

The preserve is beautiful, on this trip on only got to drive through while visiting the zoo. I plan to return in the fall to do some hiking on the trails and shoot some pictures especially from the amazing overlook.

We just returned from trail hiking at Trexler Nature preserve in early August 2014. We did the "easy" stuff, walking the double yellow trail on either side of Jordan Creek. It was approx. 4.25 miles total as a loop hike and took about 2 hours. Much of what we walked was either uphill or downhill; the flat portion beside the creek actually accounts for less than a mile of the distance. When I say uphill, I mean a change of about 400-500 feet over about a mile or so, and the comparable descent on the other side. It was enough to make us two old geezers (my wife and I, both over 65) pause regularly on the way up and down and then sit for 10 minutes on the bench at 740 feet (the high point). That said, it was a pleasant hike; we just need to get ourselves back into hiking shape after a spring and summer of walking on level ground. We saw bison and elk along the way and the day was not too hot (lower 80's). Much of our hike was through woods.I carried two 20oz insulated bottles of water and we consumed about 32 oz's of that in the two hours. I'd strongly recommend making sure you have enough water, either in bottle on a belt or through something like a Camelbak water system. There is lots of parking and the preserve is easy to get to. We hiked in boots and, given the rocky/uneven surface on much of the trail, that seems like a good idea. The trails are pretty well marked, although a number of T's we reached were without blazes and we had to use the map to confirm our suspicions. The map is good and accurate (and free). All good things. There were benches and picnic tables scattered around the park and that makes it possible to take it easy if one wants.Our next plan is to go again and do the 9-mile outer loop. We did not visit the zoo, but plan to so so in fall when there are fewer visitors and the animals can use the company.

I went here to get some exercise and I sure did! I hiked the border trail which is 9 miles. It took me 3 hours to complete and the views were very scenic. There are other activities too such as boating and going to the Lehigh Valley Zoo which is separate admission. The park itself is free. I will definitely go again and hike some of the trails in the middle of the park. I highly suggest the nature preserve!

Beautiful area with lots of hiking trails. You can plan to spend time on the river to cool off and pack a picnic to take in the views. The herd of elk and bison are a sight to see as well.

Been there many times to take pictures. Find rivers and springs, eagles, deers, pheasants and much more. Lot of Canadian Geese in winter time. Seems OK for picnicking, find also a good deal of trails (but I have not tried myself yet these). Find the Visitor Center and nearby the Lehigh Valley Zoo.

Went bike riding with the family and decided to try the trails in the trexler town preserve area. I was amazed on how much there is to do!! From swimming in the Jorday Creek to hiking thru the many trails. Sight seeing, crossing the many historic covered bridges, and the small zoo lehigh valley zoo. Trails are well maintained.

My daughter and I went on Mother's Day. Was a pleasant surprise that mothers were 1/2 off! The zoo is super clean and everyone is friendly. There were penguins, eagle, otters, zebras, camels and many more animals. It's not huge but for the price a great value!

I love this nature Preserve. Since I am a birder, this is a fantastic local for birding in the Lehigh Valley. The scenery is also gorgeous. When you are at the highest point of the Trexler Nature Preserve, the view is breath taking. It is fun when you leave the Preserve, you can view buffalo and you get to drive through a small stream as you exit the Preserve. You can do extensive hiking and picnicking in the wonderful park, also.This is a hidden gem in the Lehigh Valley.

If you've never been, take the time. It's a nice little zoo. My wife is very particular about zoo's and is generally disappointed with the treatment of the animals. She was impressed with the condition of the animals and facilities. It's small and everyone seems to have ample space. It's a nice drive with the family. Worth a trip and the family membership isn't much. My daughter loves it and we take here periodically. She loves the otter and penguins!
