Beware of the roads. They were icy . There was probably a foot of snow. The further in we got the worse the roads got.

I haven't been there in many years, but spent nearly every weekend there as a kid............ my grandparents owned a house on Old Linn Run Road, easily recognizable by the log cabin Grandpap and my brother built in the lower part of the yard, the year I was born. Then, they dug the pond and fished the local streams to stock the pond. I never made it up to the park, but who needed that..... when I had my grandparents' "park" all to myself. haha Back in the early days, until about 1963 or so, people were actually allowed to camp at Flat Rock. I have a picture of the "Rock" that brings back so many memories, but it wasn't the safest place to overnight. Then, the property was bought by a local doctor, and he closed it to swimming and camping. I'm not sure if he has donated the land to the State, or if it's still in his family, but .... I wouldn't object if he left it to me. lol It's a gorgeous area with so much Nature to enjoy and learn from. Have a great stay there, and PLEASE take care of it.(I only put the Nov 2013 date, because it wouldn't let me post this, otherwise. lol I'm in the desert southwest, and it's a rather long commute... so I don't get there very often.)

not a unique park by any means but it is always pleasure to visit in all seasons. it connects to Laurel ridge park with cross country skiing and more trails. There is one ada accesible cabin. The park spring is where i get my drinking water for a cabin i have in the area.

Have been coming here for over 20 years, renting a cabin in the fall for a weekend and just driving here for an afternoon in between. Peaceful, refreshing and rejuvanating. Lots of great trails, picnic areas and fresh spring water to bottle up and take home! Yes, the CCC cabins are rustic with no running water, but there are water sources outside and a clean bath facility with hot water. I love my plush B&Bs but also love this...especially in the autumn. Best place is Barb's Country Store at the corner of the crossroads to get up into Linn Run, coming from the Rolling Rock area. Barb's has the best hot sandwiches and great supplies! I drive up there just to have lunch and enjoy the area. Barb's will get your cabin ready with food and firewood, too! Service oriented.

This is one of my favorite places to go to in the Ligonier area, it is so peaceful and just beautiful. I go to picnic and walk around in the woods on the trails in the mountains and down to Flat Rock. The Linn Run stream is fun to play in watch people trout fish or try to find crayfish with your kids. Either way you come into the park is such a beautiful drive through the countryside, so relaxing, and it is just minutes from Ligonier and not much longer to come from Latrobe. The one thing I notice is the sound in the woods with the stream going through, I will never grow tired of hearing that. While we have never camped there, the cabins and that area look to be really nice and clean, I would highly recommend a visit if you are in the area!

Linn Run State Park is one of many in the Laurel Highlands. Well worth the drive from Pittsburgh area. The trails are well marked and easy to follow with some lovely views. Wish there was a long one but there are multiple choices in this area. We especially like Adams Fall and Flat Rock.

We just spent the weekend cabin camping at Linn Run State Park. We had a fun weekend but likely won't choose this park again in the future. Both the advantage and disadvantage was that the park was much more "rustic" than we have come to expect from our trips to other PA state parks. The cabins were clean but not especially charming; nothing like those in Black Moshannan, for example. But, there was tons of privacy and the cabins were nicely spaced out. We didn't even mind that there was a hiking trail just behind our cabin (#9) as no one was using the park that way. The really "rustic" aspect of things is that there was no running water on our side of the river. The bathrooms were chemical toilets without a sink. There was one flush toilet and a tiny sink in the bathhouse but with two small kids this was really rough. We needed water-- for tooth brushing, washing hands, and using the toilet! There also wasn't any dishwashing sink even at the shower house. All of these things were fine once we adjusted but since we have found such a different level of amenities at the other parks we've visited (approx 5) we just weren't prepared. There also wasn't any firewood available at the park. The park itself was really a section of the main road with some private property mixed in. The river was quite pretty and we saw lots of waterfalls and enjoyed hiking. We had a blast playing at "Flat Rock" near Adams Fall. It was a great natural waterslide. The water from the Spring was quite delicious too.

With nice short hiking trails.' Adams Fall' trail short and easy for even 55+ of age people leads to a nice water fall. Best is 'Flat Rock ' kids can have fun with this spring and Flat rock . Good place to stay over night in rustic cabins, can enjoy cabin camping. a small park but beautiful....good for hikers... and cabin camping.......

We visited Linn Run State Park on April 6, 2013. The park has several short hiking trails. One trail (Adams Falls) leads to a nice waterfall after about a 20 minute walk. We also hiked on the Flat Rock trail that follows along Linn Run. There are stone ruins of abandoned dwellings on both trails. The Flat Rock trail is lined with Mountain Laurel. We plan to return later this spring to see the plants in blossom. The park has a children's play area and rustic overnight cabins. The cabins were in use and a ranger told us they are in use all year long. Linn Run is stocked with trout for those who like to fish. There is also a waterfall along the main road through the park. It was developed in the 1930's by the CCC Corps. The park is fairly small, but lovely. We would recommend this park to hikers, fishermen and those who like cabin camping.
