This park is huge! We go here a few times a year for hours of hiking and exploring! The rocks down by the water are huge and u can always find a perfect one to sit on and watch the water (and sometimes kayakers or wakeboarders) passing by. The trails are well marked and the scenery is beautiful any time of year! So peaceful and serene, I love this place!

One way winding road through giant rock outcroppings. Very small parking area @ Covered bridge/Dam/Mill. Although there were signs on the Mill as to when it was open to the public - no one was there when it said it was open. Would have loved to take one of the hiking trails but we were on a very tight schedule that day. Took a lot of photos though...very picturesque.

Fast stream, dam, old mill, covered bridge, and the hills offer huge cliffs/rocks to hike between and on!

Recommended by our server at a local restaurant, McConnells Mill State Park was amazing. So beautiful, so peaceful, so cool. We were there after the height of the fall foliage, but it was still so beautiful and worth the trip. Would love to go back again.

My wife and I have hiked various trails in McConnells Mill State Park in the Spring, Summer, and Fall over the last fifteen years and have enjoyed every visit!I highly recommend both the rugged trails in the Slippery Rock Creek gorge and the trails over the rolling hills in the less visited Hells Hollow section of the park. As the trees of Western Pennsylvania began to offer their annual spectacle of colors, I hiked the 2-3 mile loop trail south of the Mill three times and was in awe of the palate of colors, the reflections in the few calm pools along the creek, and the beauty of the creek as it tumbled its way through the rugged, rocky gorge! Although the colors in October make this park an outstanding place, the blooming wildflowers in May also put on quite a show, especially in the Hells Hollow area.Perhaps we will take a cautious hike there this winter to experience the park in all its icy splendor! This park is a tremendous gift to the hikers who have explored it!

This park is located on Route 422 closer to New Castle Pa. than Butler Pa. Its a beautiful park, with Slippery Rock Creek running through it, there is an Old Grist Mill, a Covered Bridge, hiking trails and white water rapids. No swimming, the rocks are slippery and dangerous. Lots of giant rock formations covered in moss. I have been here in the winter, fall and summer. All three seasons offered beautiful scenery. Worth a look.

For the most part, this is an undeveloped park, with the emphasis on Nature. There are numerous trails , some are more challenging to others. This is not a park that is particularly Handicap accessible. Restrooms are park latrines with no running water. Be sure to bring water and snacks/food. There are no amenities here. Great place to take in beautiful cliffs, waters. There is a grist mill to see/tour. Not sure when it is open Lots of dangerous places to fall...so may want to think twice about the young Kiddies. Although, There are several areas that would be great for a nice picnic, and for the kiddies to play. Small playground in the one areas. If you are there for an event (Such as heritage Days) be mindful of the hayride that takes you from the one area to the Gristmill. There is one 'last' hayride to take you back, announced on site, that would not fit all that were waiting. Everyone was told that they would fit only people unable to make the trek back on foot. Which left a very LARGE group of people, who took the hayride down, to trudge back up the hill or up the road to the parking lot. Road is very tight and barely had room for a car, let alone people climbing back up.

McConnells Mill and the surrounding area is really a great place to just be outdoors and take a walk. The old mill and covered bridge are very interesting. The walking trails near the bridge and Hells Hollow are great. There is not a lot for little kids to do, and some trails are a bit of a trek for little legs. But it is a good afternoon for a picnic, walk and look around.

If looking for a great place to hike or relax in nature, McConnells mills is a great place to do it. The scenic covered bridge and old mill sets the stage for all the beauty around you. Plan to spend a day in the fall with all the leaves changing and you will not be dissapointed.

We decided to do a quick trip to the park and wanted to hike. However, it was a rainy day and the rain only allowed us to do Hell's Hollow Falls trail. This trail was really nice. The creek had neat stone cut outs and was very pretty. The falls were very pretty. There was even an old furnace next to the falls. I look forward to when we can go back on a sunny day.

I wanted to do a short hike to test a new child carrier backpack to carry my daughter. We thought the Hell's Hollow Trail would be perfect, and it was! It was myself, my daughter, my wife, and my parents. (My parents also thought it was an easy hike.)The parking lot on Shaffer Road was easy to find and the hike to Hell's Falls was easy with some nice scenery along the way. My Daughter loved looking around and seeing the running water. The water erosion is very impressive and the waterfalls are very pretty. I highly suggest this hike to anyone wanting an easy and fun trail to hike.

We love spending the day here hiking and picnicking. There are longer or shorter trails depending on your fitness level. The scenery is breathtaking. Take the furry kids--they LOVE it too.
