the living dead museum and gift shop

The living dead museum is really cool. There are a lot of cool movie posters and other memorabilia to look at. A definite must for any Living Dead fans. The gift shop there has a lot of cool t-shirts, and other cool merchandise for purchase as well. Also once you have been to the museum it is worth the short drive from there to the cemetery where they filmed part of the original night of the living dead.

This was so much fun -- I wish it was ten times bigger!Any zombie aficionado will want to come here just to bask in the fun. There are original artifacts from various movies, historical documents, and other zombie memorabilia. There are also some great t-shirts! The cost was WAY minimal ($3.00) -- I think most fans would happily pay more to support their efforts so they can expand on their collection. Most movies starring the living dead are represented -- even some of which I wasn't aware! In addition, there was a NOTLD documentary running while we were there, and you can just sit and watch. No extra charge!The lady at the desk was entirely knowledgeable about the history and all the movies/tv shows, and she even recommended we visit the cemetery nearby where the opening scenes of "Night of the Living Dead" were filmed. Awesome!I really recommend this for any zombie fans -- they're working on getting "The Walking Dead" material to view as well. I will definitely come back to check on their progress.

Had a fun visit to the museum. The cost is great $3.00 per person. Afterwards visit the Evans City Cemetery to visit the graves used in the movie... Went here with my girlfriend who had no knowledge of the movie and she enjoyed our trip also.

I am a big Night of the Living Dead fan, and a fan of zombies in general, so this place was right up my alley. It is a small place, but the cost is minimal, and the staff are friendly. We went here before we went to the cemetery where some of the filming took place, and the staff gave us easy directions on how to get there. I would recommend going here and to the Evans City Cemetery.

As a zombie and horror movie fan, I could not leave this site out of the itinerary when visiting Pittsburgh from Toronto. Having first looked over the museum web-site, and then the one review on TA, I figured this site would be small – and it was. It still did not disappoint, and there are a few photo opportunities (I’ve posted a few here). They just moved to Evans City last year, so a couple of exhibits are still in incomplete. In fact, the museum employee was telling me that they have yet to display the JC Penny elevator door from Monroeville Mall (Dawn of the Dead movie shoot location). When the elevator was dismantled, they discovered fake blood still caked inside between the doors. They intend to display this item in the future as well. The gift shop was a lot of fun as well. It was better than you would expect for the size of the museum. More specifically, they had a good selection of Romero horror t-shirts, in addition to some other movies/shows (e.g., lots of Waling Dead related items). I was surprised to see a “The Crazies” t-shirt – one of Romero’s earlier movies. As I found out at the museum, this movie was also filmed in Evans City.However, t-shirt sizes were limited. It looked like they needed to re-stock some of the more popular sizes. Also, some items advertised on their website were not available in the gift shop. For instance, their more popular Night of the Living Dead shirt was sold out in all sizes (the one with the large close-up of the zombie girl). Also, the selection of Monroeville Mall ‘artifacts’ was more limited than what is on the website. While you’re here, you can also visit the Evans City Cemetery, where the opening scenes of Night of the Living Dead were filmed. You can get directions from the museum staff. It is just a couple of minutes a way by car. And it is still spooky driving up the driveway entrance to the cemetery, like the opening scenes of the movie!Do check the hours before you visit, as they are limited. Oh yes, and one more thing....."They're coming to get you, Barbara!"

Since I am a big fan of Night of the Living Dead I was pleasantly surprised to find that they had a Zombie Museum where the movie took place in Evans City, PA. For a small fee you can tour the museum which has props from a wide variety of zombie films. There are a few full size props as well that I got my picture taken with, including Bub from Day of the Dead. They have the Wall of the Dead where celebrities and people such as Tom Savini have signed their names with messages.They have a small theater room where you can even watch some of the movies! The owner even gave us directions to the cemetery where the '68 and '90 films Night of the Living Dead were filmed at, which is a very short drive way up on a hill.There is plenty of merchandise to go through such as shirts, sweatshirts, action figures, photos, movies, etc.
