Especially love the tour guide Union and Confederate Generals who were well informed with a generous sense of history and humor.

A few months ago, our local newspaper ran an article on a day trip to Doylestown and the various attractions there. That is how we came to discover this gem of a small museum. As others have said, the docents really make the experience. Our docent was originally from Plainfield, NJ, but he has a Virginia connection, so his perspective was a bit different from a totally Northern point of view. He did a great job of walking us through the rooms and the various items of memorabilia and answering the questions of the four people on the tour. The building and the front entrance area are both extremely well-maintained by a dedicated group of volunters. The museum is only open 10:30 to 2:00 on Saturdays, so plan your visit accordingly. There is no admission fee, but of course, we left a donation.Highly recommended!

Visited this place over a year ago with friends who are civil war history buffs. Quite small but packed with artifacts and information. The young teenage docent who led us through the collection was incredibly knowledgeable and helpful. Highly recommended. Plan on an hour or so.

The docents make the place - they are dedicated volunteers who know their stuff and make it come alive for visitors. I went there twice with guests visiting me from outside this area. It is a small museum, but it is full of memorabilia and art work and many other things that will be of interest to Civil War buffs! It has a little gift shop that has many items for both children and adults. It is in a house from the period right in the middle of Doylestown, so visitors to the museum can walk around and see the lovely homes in the area, almost all with date plaques identifying their original owner and the year built. This museum is well worth the trip!

The museum is usually only open on Saturdays, but is now open on Fridays for the summer. The tour guides are dress in period clothing and extremely knowledgeable. We will be coming back with the kids next month.
