isle of ferns park

The Isle is in the heart of the city. A great place to go to listen to the birds and watch the river go past. A favorite place to go to escape the everyday rat race.

This is such a nice area and so close to downtown Wausau that you can walk there. Good place for a picnic or just to let the kids run off some energy. My wife and I got married there 10 years ago even!

Fern park is a wonderful place to visit if you want to unwind or just go for a walk in nature while I the middle of a smaller city.

This is a wonderful park. Lots of places to explore, good fishing spots from the land, also a boat landing. There are kids playground equipment, a shelter, skateboard park, bathrooms and tennis courts. In the summer on select days they have a farmer's market. Wonderful park in a beautful city

If you find yourself in Wausau, WI with time to kill, this is the perfect place to unwind. Situated on an island in the Wisconsin River, this little park in quiet and relaxing. Cross the bridge from Oak Island Park and cross the little open area and you find yourself in a veritable jungle of the ferns that give this park its name. Wind along the quiet footpaths and drink in the fragrant scent of ferns. See wildlife like deer right along the river bank. Be advised that the paths can sometimes be muddy, so watch your step.
