Cheese! Isles and isles of hundreds of various types of cheese AND fresh cheese curds (dill flavored is my favorite). The parking lot is always packed and it truly is worth the hub-bub. We live close enough that we go once a month to stockpile on cheese. They have a large window on the main floor and a further viewing level upstairs to view the working factory make the cheese curds. There is also an ice cream shop on the main level... all reasonably priced. They do not take credit cards, be ready to pay with cash!

If you love cheese, this is the place. Hundreds of varieties of cheese. Also have meat sticks and summer sausages. So hard to choose from all the flavors. There is also an ice cream shop inside. Our 7 year old daughter was so excited and enjoyed watching the cheese being made through the observation window. Just beware that they do not take debit/credit cards, which is surprising seeing how busy they are. It is cash or check only. Highly recommend. Awesome place for great cheese and the prices are very reasonable.

A staple of central Wisconsin, Dairy State Cheese is a landmark for cheese lovers near and far. This is witnessed by the variety of license plates in the parking lot! The must try food is cheese curds of various flavors, including dill, pizza, jalapeño and plain. Great prices and friendly service too.

A great variety of cheese at a good price. Incredibly clean facility. Would recommend it for A stop if you're in the area.Be mindful, they do not take credit/debit cards. It is cash or check only at this time.

Rudolph does itself proud with the cheese factory. So many different kinds of cheese and all made right before your eyes. There is even a observation level where you can look down and watch the process. Apparently they have a lot of school children visiting, as there are quite a number of school desk in the observation room with a TV and videos. You can purchase all their cheese on the main level, and also buy ice cream and keepsakes as well. All the sales people where very helpful and friendly. Cash and checks only no credit cards accepted.

The Dairy State Cheese Factory is an absolute must stop for everyone. Whether you are a Wisconsinite or a visitor, a trip to the factory is a real treat. Not only can you find a variety of wisconsin cheeses, but you can also find hand painted decor, and a variety of real ice cream. While the factory itself offers many purchasing options you will also find the customer service to be superb, encompassing the true nature of Wisconsin Hospitality. To anyone looking to make a visit be sure to have cash or a check ready because the factory does NOT accept Credit or Debit Cards.

Although I live in the Hudson Valley of NY State, my husband and I visit Wisconsin to see our children and grandchildren several times a year. A must stop is the Factory Cheese store.Be sure to stop at your ATM as they only take cash. We also are lucky to have been able to watch cheese being made through the huge display windows on at least two trips. Now for the cheese. Let's just say I couldn't live without cheese. I take cheese back to family in NY as well. The prices are fantastic compaired to our NY cheese shop prices that's for certain. I like to load up on some of the brand names as well as the factory brand. I wish they had a sample counter so that you could try different cheeses that you are not sure of. As a kid, my Dad loved limberger but I'm too cowardly to buy without being sure of the taste as I know it really smells. I love the display of antique cheese trays. I inherited a Limoges tray from my mother in law which is coveted. When first I owned it I thought it was for butter service. The ice cream is also a treat but it did take some time to get waited on and the Server seemed annoyed to have to leave the cheese station to scoop ice cream. No worries though. I can't wait to take my brother and his wife when they come to visit in two weeks. By the way, our first visit we met a young couple who fly in twice a year from off the grid Canada to buy hundreds of dollars of cheese. Now that is a dedicated customer.

They have an amazing assortment of cheeses! And it's relatively cheap too (at least compared to grocery store prices of comparable artisan cheeses). My only ding is they don't take credit cards which I guess is a good thing because otherwise I'd probably spend my whole paycheck here!

We drove an hour to go here for the "tour" which ended up being just being able to look threw the windows which nothing was going on.. Also couldn't buy any cheese since No credit cards accepted.

I had not been back in Wisconsin for a while and my causin drive us here to sample and buy cheese. Loaded up but I mostly enjoyed the summer sausage and small links. Great! Cheese curds are a little interesting but good flavor. Fun for kids to watch them being made. Take time to stop when here.

I remember going to get cheese curds here as a child when visiting family. The name is different now but still a must see for cheese lovers. You can watch the cheese being made and for those who don't know ---- fresh cheese curds squeak! Dairy State cheese have every kind of cheese you can imagine and some that you couldn't imagine. I went crazy buying fresh cheese to bring home to family, nearly reaching my weight limit in my suitcase. Much easier, order online and have cheese shipped. The staff were very helpful and friendly. Be advised, they take cash or check only, no charge. They have an ice cream shop with tables also. Fresh Wisconsin made varieties of ice cream. Honestly, I think it was the best ice cream I ever tried. As with cheese, fresh makes a big difference in flavor.

Dairy State by far has the best cheese in WI. I moved from Wausau to Eau Claire, so I'm not as close as I used to be and miss the cheese. I can't find any local cheese in the Eau Claire area that compares to the quality and taste of Dairy State. The prices are reasonable, the variety and assortment is never ending. Be warned Dairy State does not take credit or debit cards. They only accept cash or check.

As you might expect you can get a great deal of cheese here, but in addition to the fine Dairy State cheeses, they also sell other Wisconsin and imported cheese. For example if you want to buy a blue cheese that ISN'T crumbled into little bits for cooking, you can get it here. You can also get a variety of novelty cheeses in the shape of animals etc., for tourist consumption. Add to this some of the state's finest iced cream in the adjoining parlor, and the viewing gallery where you can watch cheese being made, and you have a really interesting place to visit. Be warned, however that they don't take credit cards!
