A great place for a walk anytime, but especially in the fall. The gardens are spectacular during the summer. A great place for an event, party, or wedding.

The Boerner Botanical Gardens are a real Hales Corners treasure. During the Spring and Summer the gardens are a sea of beautiful colors from the wide variety of plants on display. There is also a huge trial garden that is very interesting as well. In the park is a place called the Wehr Nature Center which is also wonderful, many great walking trails and lots of beautiful scenery.

An amazing Milwaukee County park and one of my favorites! Beautiful floral displays. Paths, wooden bridges and water structures constructed by the Civilian Conservation Corps many years ago. One of the largest displays of flowering crab trees in the country, Former floral domain of garden master,Bill Radler, developer of the world-famous Knock-out rose . Rolling hills, shady picnic areas, beautiful (fairly new) garden center rentable for weddings & events, Weekly summer concerts in a beautiful shady grove. Adjacent Wehr Nature Center. Whitnall Park, of which the Gardens are a part, has it all! Convenient to the Hwy 894 Bypass.

This area is so peaceful in the middle of an urban area. Even though most flowers are past their prime around here the gardens were interesting and beautiful. No crowds, worth the trip.

It's been a while since we visited this wonderful place, close to my in-laws in Wisconsin. Since we last came there has been added a modern building suitable for functions and you enter through the high glass-framed atrium. Also new to us were the carved standing stones and the metal sculptures. While we were visiting arrangements were being made for an open-air wedding in the grounds - nice idea!Being a hot day and mid-week we almost had the place to ourselves. The water sprinkling system seemed to keep the temperature down as well as make the lawns grow green. There are so many little nooks and crannies as well as the laid-out formal rose garden. The day lilies were in full bloom, each clearly labelled, some of them having very curious names. Families with children could have fun spotting the most interesting of these plant-labels.Don't forget to take a stroll through the bog garden - the pathway is along a raised wooden platform. Enjoy the rockery with its waterfall. Grab lots of photos, but take time to stop and breathe the air as well!

August is the perfect time to visit any horticultural space in Wisconsin. The flowers are in bloom. The weather is beautiful. This garden takes advantage of the weather to present well thought out displays of colorful flowers. Although it is a bit far south of the Milwaukee, it is well worth the drive.

I like to come here right in the middle of summer when everything is in full bloom. This is probably one of the most beautiful places in the Metro Milwaukee area. A great location for all of your photography needs, just walk around and you will be sure to find your perfect backdrop. Be sure to check out the koi pond back by the rose garden.

We visited several times when my 4 oldest kids {24, 21, 20 & 14} were younger and to my regret, haven't visited since the early 2000s. It's as beautiful as I remember it being. I hope to visit in summer to see all the beautiful roses. This time I shall bring a picnic lunch since my two youngest {5 & 2yo girls} love themselves a picnic. If you didn't plan ahead for one, Culvers is nearby. Great place for people of all ages! Don't forget your bug spray if you plan to go on the hiking trails.

This place is amazing! We were there too late for the peonies and too early for the day lilies, but it is easy to see how this place is beautiful at any time of year. Almost fully wheelchair accessible with lots of quiet places to rest and contemplate the beauty of the gardens.

My husband and I came here to help me "work on my walking" because I'm recovering from a broken ankle. It was nice to stroll through the gardens. Our favorite was the herb garden since we like to garden as well. There was a wedding going on in the mall area, so that was a little awkward for us, but still it was a nice time!

We stopped here to let our daughter stretch her legs as she'd been stuck in her car seat for hours. We got a lot more than we bargained for! Reasonably priced, beautiful, casual. It isn't the most stroller-friendly place, but you can access at least 75% of the grounds on wheels. If we lived in Hales Corners we'd take our kids there every day. We will certainly return.

Because we visited the gardens in early June we missed out on the roses andvarious other late bloomers, but there was plenty there to see. The many irisesand peonies were spectacular. We enjoyed the meadows and arbors, and thewaterfall and bridge were a nice surprise.

The gardens are really nice- the volunteers and park employees do a great job with tending the plants. Don't stop there though. There's a great library in the basement where you can look at plant books, see historical newspapers about the parks, and see many seed and bulb catalogs. They have a children's nature book section too. Then in the hallway is a display of the parks showing the history that shouldn't be missed if you are interested in how the parks used to look. This year they've opened a cafe so you can get a coffee, pre made sandwiches and salads. There are also a few new pieces of art in the peony garden. Really nice place in good weather! If you have a membership here, it's good at several hundred other gardens in the US. If you belong to a botanic garden in your hometown, you might see if you can have free admission here as well.

The gardens are full of year-round activities. Skiing and sledding in winter. Concerts in summer. Lovely gift shop with unique items for all ages. If you want to see deer, a drive through at dusk will likely uncover small herds. Fish fry on Fridays are a available. There is also a coffee shop. Plenty of room to hike and explore.
