I recently returned to Ho-Chunk in WI Dells for some casino action! The last few times I was here, I did not enjoy it as much as I had in the past, but they seemed to redeem themselves a little this time. I was hitting some slot machines that actually let me play for a while without just instantly losing out! That is always kind of nice. One machine let me play for over 3 hours after putting in 20 dollars, and I left it with about 250 dollars! I will definitely have to try and hit that one again another time! The casino was kind of crowded on this Friday night, but there were still plenty of machines available. I had an entertaining night here, and I will be back some time soon! The only thing I gripe about with Ho-Chunk a lot is the smoke. I get irritated by the smoke and it seems very smoky in some parts of the casino. I try to stay in the non-smoking areas. Otherwise, a great time! I did not stay or eat here on this visit.

I love this casino. It is my absolute favorite casino around and we try to visit once a year. It is very large with a nice variety of old and new slots. Plus lots of table games. My only complaint is the smoke in there. I am a smoker myself, but the the ventilation system is not adequate for the size of this building. I always leave and as soon as I get home, I have to wash everything I am wearing.

Had a nice time despite all the smoke. In order to get to the no smoking area, you had to walk through all the smoking areas. The buffet was a bargain. The food was good, with many choices. They even had sugar free desserts.

They have a smoke free section which is nice. This casino offers off track betting. Your typical Wisconsin casino.

Nothing special here except tons of machines. The place is very large with a wide assortment of machines and table games. Nothing to brag about though.

We bought the bracelets to let us in all the venues. The bands were ok and finally we found a band we liked. The only problem was there isn't much seating in the ballrooms which makes it hard to enjoy a band if you have to stand for 4 or 5 hours. I'm not certain if I'd do this again.

We stayed at the Ho Chunk casino and resort in Wisconsin Dells for two days over New Year's. Wow! It was great!!!!! (This completely negates our very bad experience at our last Ho Chunk casino stay in Black River Falls.),..that place is an ISH!CASINO: The casino is large - 3000 slots and I put money in every one of them - BUT - I got more money out than I put in - NICE! It was not too smoky either. Drink servers were scarce but there were many places to get a drink. There were lots and lots of old standby slots plus lots of new slots - and in every denomination. FUN!RESTAURANTS: There are several good choices - a café, a steakhouse, the usual casino buffet, deli, coffee cart, bar and grille. Steakhouse and the bar and grill were excellent!HOTEL: Hotel is very nice with clean and modern rooms. All the staff were very polite and helpful. There is a very nice large pool and spa area, plus a sauna. We enjoyed the two hot tubs! There is also a fitness center we did not use...too busy eating, drinking, dancing, and gambling...after all...it's New Year's Eve!The hotel and casino did an OUTSTANDING job of organizing New Year's Eve! There were 4 bands playing in various ballrooms, casino, bar/grill. As part of our hotel package, we received the entrance arm bands without charge - otherwise it was $15 - but still so worth it! The package also included $20 off dinner at any of the food places and a free gift, plus $10 free play. Staff were handing out New Year's Eve party favors, hats, etc., balloons dropped at midnight, etc. - very well done! And considering it was New Year's Eve and lots of people...there was no drunkenness or disorderly conduct - just people having a good time!Almost all of the staff in the casino, restaurants, and hotel were nice, except for one very crabby lady at the loyalty program window - yikes! Not nice to be loudly and rudely scolding another coworker in front of customers. The casino and hotel are beautiful and we had a great time - we will definitely be going there again! Wisconsin Dells also has a lot to offer in the way of restaurants and entertainment besides the casino - with all the shopping, water parks, etc.Happy New Year!

The Ho Chunk Casino has a wide variety of slot machines, black jack tables, live craps and live poker. It's a big casino with a lot more open space than you typically see at casinos; you don't feel like a sardine in this place. I must say that I do agree with some of the recent posts, the machines appear to be getting a lot tighter than they used to be. We lost $700 and our biggest win on a machine was only $50. Hard to say though, we have won there in the past. The only real knock I have on this casino is the food venues, which generally aren't very good. We'll be back again later this year.

We went there on Christmas day for the buffet only (We didn't gamble). Went with 3 adults and 4 kids. Prices were a little high but well worth it $18.99 for adults and $7.99 for kids 4-10 . Best food in the area! The Dells has a terrible selection of food, this was the best meal we had on our four day stay. There were so many choices and they were all delicious. Some of the best mashed potatoes and gravy I've had in a long time. (My dad was a chef and saucier for 40+years). Every single one of my favorite desserts were there! Cannolis, petit fours, coconut cream pie, layer bars, ice cream bar, cheesecakes, too many to mention. There was a taco bar, baked potato bar, ribs, fried and barbecued chicken, cheese and crackers, mac and cheese, prime rib, pasta bar, asian/chinese bar! AMAZING selection and good quality. Food wise, this was the high point of our trip.

No changes from previous poor reviews of years back. Seems like they don't appreciate the locals that actually keep them a float. The people who go there frequently do so to get out for some entertainment, but they end it quickly unless your high stakes player. The rich drain the machines on the floor with $2 - 25 bets and then head for the high stakes room to win even more. It is a Very rare moment if you win anything substantial on a minimum bet and some of the new machines that means $.75. The food quality was poor and they raised their prices. The roof was leaking and caused one restaurant to be closed down for over a month and the whole place should have been closed down from the awful roof tar fumes the patrons endured for months. All in all not a good way to treat your patrons. If they receive bad comments expect a spit in the face. Oh, and my personal favorite comment I here them say to patrons "But you keep coming back!" I think they should know many are not! If there was a 0 rating that's what they would have got!!

OK casino. Lots of slots, not enough reasonably priced blackjack tables. The status quo for casinos these days, unless you go to Vegas. Although I didn't win, and experienced several bad beats at the blackjack tables, I still enjoyed myself. It's the price of entertainment. Wouldn't go out of my way to go back, but if I found myself there on business (like this visit), I would sit down and play again.

Very Very stingy machines. They make payouts all right. A very small amount of people win something and you will wait months to get half of what you spent all yr. Go somewhere else for fun. Last time they paid well was 4th of July weekend

Was very quiet on the night we were there, the players card was not explained very well and the food venues appeared to all close early even though the casino was still open

We waited in line to check in to our room for over 40 minutes, and there were only 2 people in front of us. We had booked on line, and was told that there had been a mistake on the pricing and they would only honor the rate for one night and we would have to pay more the second night, even tho we had a reservation rate...the staff was not friendly at all....
