This was fun to do and even more fun when the coconuts are received, to hear them tell about getting a coconut in the mail. The Post Master there is very nice he really enjoys his job. Also a nice drive out to the post office. When you are in Molokai don't miss this one of a kind thing to do!!

This small local post office provides free coconuts that you can decorate & mail to friends back home. They also provide markers & have samples of some of the beautifully decorated coconuts on display. A unique & fun offering by a delightful local postal service.

Gary must be the nicest post master in the world! You can tell he really enjoys his job. He was so helpful and friendly. We had a ton of fun decorating our coconuts and mailing them all over the world, but not Australia. This is the best kind of souvenir we could get for our friends and family. It was a blast coming up with all our different designs.

Like other reviewers state, this is a unique way to unleash a bit of creativity on your part and surprise the post office in your town as well as the recipient! It costs around $10 to mail one coconut. Examples of elaborately decorated coconuts are on display at the post office for inspiration. A large basket of magic markers of many colors are available for your use. My coconut hasn't arrived yet but I'm looking forward to my own little souvenir of Molokai, which is a wonderful, unspoiled place.

Friendly and helpful staff and quick, fun, cheap way to make a memory! I had no idea they had this, heard it from a lady in town. Just do it!

This is a great idea and unusual sovernier of Molokai. The Post Master is so helpful, goes out of his way to assist with any enquiry. Sending the coconuts isn't as expensive as you would expect, and they can be sent anywhere in the world. This is definitely a don't miss place on beautiful Molokai

Always wanted to mail a coconut, finally got the chance.Only cost $11.00 to mail the nut, fully worth the value. This is one of our best vacation conversation pieces so far.Just go in, pick the coconut you like, get it checked at the counter, than start drawing on it. After about 20 minutes (per coconut), your ready to mail.A great stop in Molokai, just best to set aside an hour to do it so your not rushed.

It really did not take long and the drive over was worth it. I do believe this is the only place you can ship a coconut as is in the world. My son and husband loved it! They had plenty of markers and a few painted coconuts for inspiration. It really is worth it. Both the ones I picked still had coconut water in them!

Free coconuts, just draw on one, address it, pay for postage and it's on its way to your favorite friends or family members...or even send it to yourself. This stop at the post office near the Molokai airport was really neat and memorable. I've never had so much fun at a Post Office. The Postman at this location, named Gary, was tremendously helpful and seemed to really enjoy his unique job at the US Postal Service. The postman has someone bring in dried brown coconuts so customers can have a nice selection to choose from. There's a box full of sharpies in many colors so your artwork can come to life. If you prefer, he also knows a gifted painter that, for a fee, can turn a coconut into anything your mind can imagine...Nemo, a humu humu triggerfish or a gorgeous tropical scene. The professionally painted samples on display at the post office are truly impressive. The postman told us the typical coconut costs between $10-16 to mail across the country. I sent one to Florida for $11.25. He applies postage in a creative manner by choosing many beautiful stamps and affixing them wherever there's a blank area. On mine, he applied 11 different stamps including an Aloha stamp. The artist inside this postman emerged and enhanced the coconut with his beautiful selection of stamps. Cool! He did this with every coconut he processed. My family received the coconut in the mail within six days and they thought it was a hoot. It's now on display in their nautical/tropical themed house. What a perfect gift...fun too!Kudos Gary!!! Keep up the great work, Mr. Hawaiian Postman.

I had read about the opportunity to send a coconut and insisted we had to make the drive to find this post office. We're so glad we did! It was such fun decorated a coconut to send to my grandson in NYC. It arrived in 4 days and he loved it! The postmaster was so delightful and took the time to chat with us.

Read about this stop on TA and happened to be in that area during a brief rainstorm. So we decided to check it out. Just as previously reported it is a really fun stop. Sent out five nuts. They provided nuts, markers and even a kids coloring book for tropical line drawing ideas. My first nut arrived in North Carolina in only 3 days! The last to arrive in Montana and Washington State took almost a week. Go Figure! cost was a bit over $10 per nut. The Postman therr, and darn I forgot his name, was so friendly and nice. They add colorful postage stamps to make them look even cooler! I guess the mailman delivering them got a kick out of them too!

We travelled to Hawaii in early February and stayed on Maui, but had a one day fly in trip to Molokai. We had read about the post-a-nut process and thought it was fabulous. We found the little post office and the postmaster was just off to lunch, but gave me the customs declarations, coconuts and markers and let me have at it while he was gone. It took awhile, but once they were done, 5 of them, the postmaster was back and at about $14.00 a coconut to mail to Canada, we thought it was a deal. Well, I guess they must have elves in that post office because when the coconuts started to arrive in Canada they were full of colourful stickers as well as the little bit of artwork that we had put on them. The grandkids loved them and we are very appreciative to the postmaster for dressing them up a little more before mailing them. Thank you so much. So many people got a tremendous kick out of the coconuts, the people who delivered them, the families that received them, show and tell at school, and even a few neighbours. Great fun was had by all!!! This is a must if you visit Molokai.. What a wonderful experience. Thank you Post-A-Nut. We love you

They have lots of coconuts to choose from and they leave all different types of markers out for decoration. It was actually a lot of fun doing it. And once my son received it, he was showing it off to everyone. The post office is closed at lunchtime, meaning you can't even use the restroom. The people working there was awesome and fun to talk to. They showed us an add about post-a-nut in a magazine that they were really proud of.This wasn't very pricey either. I had a good size coconut and if I remember it was $11.
