The Adair Cabin is filled with lots of information about the Adairs, the Browns and life just prior to the Civil War. The Battle of Osawatomie was interesting to reading about while walking the grounds. I am glad I took the time to explore this park.

The Adair cabin was really neat and very informative! There is way more to do in this town, so it is worth the time to go see. Not only will you learn quite a bit about John Brown, but also all about the town. Be sure and ask for the car tour map. They were available at the town museum and the Adair cabin. Drive around and check out the various sites. The people are friendly and will be happy to answer any questions. The Cafe and Bakery on Main Street is worth the stop also. They make all their own bread for their sandwiches, along with other home made tasty side dishes. YUM!

This is an interesting stop for history lovers. You will see the Adair cabin, where John Brown stayed. The exhibits on hand tell you about the life of John Brown and the raids he made. The even have one of his hats. Also, the town is on the site of the battle of Osawatomie, a scuffle between Missouri and Anti-Slavery forces. The tour guide was very knowedgable, and even if you wanted to wander around the cabin on your own, she wouldn't mind. Overall, it is a very worthwhile stop if you happen to be in the area.

Who knew that one building and one guide could reveal so much about a crucial time and a controversial figure from 150 years ago! The guide was SO well versed in the period, in the historical and political contexts, and in the affects John Brown and others had on the unfolding drama that would become the Civil War. A wondefully balanced approach to the figure John Brown and to the realities of his time!
