Medicine Lodge, Kansas has much history of the Old West including the location of the Medicine Lodge Treaty -- a set of three treaties signed between the U.S. Government and the Kiowa, Comanche, Plains Apache, Southern Cheyenne, and Southern Arapaho in October 1867. It was also the site of a Wild West bank robbery, and the home of Carry A. Nation, the militant reformer and prohibitionist who made a habit of smashing the interiors of saloons. The Stockade Museum and Carry Nation House are a great stop for history buffs. The best part of the visit is a great lady, by the name of Mariam, that is very friendly and shows a great passion in telling the story of Medicine Lodge.
