The Lowell Milken Center is something you must see when travelling to Fort Scott. I've simply never seen anything like it. Warm wonderful intelligent people teaching educators to look into the past with their students and find significant unsung heroes and bringing them to light. Their passion for what they do is evident and the exhibits are amazing - an inspiration to us all!

Visiting the Milken Center is always on our to-do list when we have friends or family visiting from out of town. So much is happening, and new displays are added, so it's as big a treat for us locals as it is for the out-of-towners. In fact, some of our away connections ask for it to be put into the weekend's plans again when they come to visit. We are there several times a year.

My family visited the Lowell Milken Center this past summer and it was well worth the stop! The Center's staff, exhibits, and location within Ft Scott, KS are all wonderful. The staff is friendly, knowledgable, and really took the time to explain the displays and answer any and all questions. The exhibits are poignant, inspiring and have an incredible impact on the viewer. They are very meaningful to all who are fortunate to visit the Center. The Center itself is on a quaint main street with a variety of history surrounding it. Ft Scott boasts the national landmarks of the first national cemetery, the fort, and now the Center for Unsung Heroes! My family would encourage everyone to travel to Ft Scott to visit the Lowell Milken Center for Unsung heroes!

The Lowell Milken Center is a simply splendid stop in the beautiful town of Fort Scott, Kansas. Located on the quaint main-street, the center is a literal plethora of information and incredible history. I only had the pleasure of spending a little bit of time there, but it was absolutely time well spent and I learned so much! The staff were incredibly helpful and friendly and it was clear that they shared a passion for their work and the work of all the contributors that created some of the exhibits at the Center. There are hundreds of stories about incredible people and historical events that are highlighted at the center; in fact, you could easily spend an entire day at the center. Yet even if you are only passing through for an afternoon, this stop will be one that you don't regret! I would also like to extend a special thank you to Norm, Megan, Ashley, Tab and Kenny; keep up the good work party peeps!

Very informative, friendly staff. Great for anyone taking a quick run through Fort Scott. The exhibits are great for history buffs, or really just anyone.

This is a real gem. It is a small museum that features "unsung heroes." These are people who made a real difference in the world but are not well-known politicians or celebrities. Each one has an exhibit with photos and objects and text that tells that person's story. The exhibit grew out of local research on Irene Sendler, who saved countless Jewish children in the Warsaw ghetto in World War II. When you leave the Center, you will definitely want to read "Life in a Jar," about Irene Sendler and about the efforts of a teacher and students from the Fort Scott area to bring her story to light. Well worth visitin!

My family visited the Lowell Milken Center and were blown away by they exhibits! To know that students did them is amazing! The staff and projects were very informative. The unsung hero stories were inspiring and deeply heart warming. I feel the Lowell Milken Center is a must see for children and adults alike! Can't wait to come back to see more exciting exhibits!!!

If you are any where near Ft. Scott don't miss this amazing place! I could spend hours exploring the exhibits that bring unsung heroes into the light. I learned so much about stories I thought knew, but names I did not. Examining history through the eye of the foot soldiers of history was inspiring. I left thinking of the ways that maybe I too could 'repair the world'.

The Lowell Milken Center for Unsung Heroes is an amazing place! Located in historic Fort Scott, Kansas, the Center brings the stories of unsung heroes in history to life. It is a truly inspiring place filled with equally as inspiring people. You must hear the Life in Jar story and meet Norm Conard and Megan Felt who discovered the untold story of Irena Sendler, who saved 2,500 Jewish children from the Warsaw Ghetto. There are stories of individuals from all walks of life, from varying historical periods, and from all over the world. Each one offers the message that one person can indeed make a difference! The Center delivers this message while working with schools and children all over the world to teach them about project-based learning and unsung heroes. Don't miss this wonderful place!

You must visit the Lowell Milken Center and bring your kids and teens. The center has inspring exhibits and its many programs work with young people around the world to inspire them to be agents of change. You and your kids will be so moved by this work that you will believe that you can make a difference in the world.

This rare gem is nestled in downtown Fort Scott and is a "must see" when exploring Kansas (it's a great day trip destination and worth taking the "scenic route" if you are driving through Kansas). Warm staff will greet you as you learn about several local, national, and international unsung heroes while exploring the Center. In an era when we are bombarded with negative news, the stories of unsung heroes will nourish your soul and rejuvenate your belief in the goodness of humanity. Is there any better way to spend your time?

What a memorable experience! I was only able to visit for about an hour but I could have spent the entire afternoon talking with the staff about the exhibits! A must-see if you're visiting the area!!!

I was in Kansas for work and was in Fort Scott for only a few hours, but they were hours well spent. I visited the Lowell Milken Center because I had been introduced to the organization through the "Life in a Jar" story about students who created an inspirational play about an unsung hero from WWII. All of the exhibits there showcase historical figures who made a difference in the world. I'd never heard of any of these people, but their stories were incredible. I could not believe that it was the first time I had heard about the only man whose ashes are buried on the moon! Even more impressive that each of the exhibits on display were projects that kids had created with their teachers. The center left me feeling really positive and I've told all of my friends with kids and friends who are teachers about my visit.
