Lovely park with lots to offer. Trails, horseback riding, swimming, fishing, a nature center, playgrounds, and more.

Eagle Creek Park is one of the largest city parks in America. Numerous picnic shelters and playgrounds, as well as dozens of small picnic sites dot this 5300 acre forested reservoir area. You can drive or bike the meandering roads, hike or run the hilly trails, experience the two nature centers, swim, fish, rent boats in season, bird watch or--"Go Ape!" on the 2-3 hour zip line course through the woods and hills (extra cost and reservations required for this.) The place is beautiful any time of year. If you look for them, you can easily see eagles and deer and, perhaps, a glimpse of a fox or coyote, though you have to be quiet and stealthy because these latter are very shy of people. If you are in Indianapolis for any length of time, you should get out there for a picnic or hike in the woods.

Let's start here; if it wasn't for Eagle Creek, I'd move out of the area. Period. This is a remarkable park for a naturalist, a family, or someone who just needs some exercise in a natural area. The birding is spectacular in early-mid May. There are a lot of things to do in the park. The down side is that it is expensive for an urban park, $5/trip. While I buy an annual pass ($60 non-Marion co res). I do find it a bit excessive for a 'city' park. Still you never know what you will find. There is both an outstanding ornithology center, Nature center, rest center. There is camoeing and zipling in the park as well.

We have only been during the cooler months and love that it's an oasis in the city. Beautiful landscapes! The ornothology (bird) center is super fun. Bring your own binoculars if you are going on a day that the center is closed and you can see lots of birds on the water from a nearby overlook. Otherwise, the center has an indoor viewing area and has binoculars if you ask. The history of the building is interesting too as it was Eli Lilly's personal library.

A beautiful, large park where they preserve nature. Also they have interesting displays of different birds, a lake.

A piece of forest and lakes just a little way from downtown. It is so close to US 65 that one can take a quick hike on one of the many trails and be back on the highway in no time at all. If you are a birder, it is a MUST STOP.

The park is easy to drive through or walk and hike. There is always animals to see and watch in fascination as they look for food. The park is large in size and the price is really cheap to enter. Fun for all ages!!

Eagle Creek Park is a nice area to relax, hike, bird watching, biking, you name it. So close to Indianapolis it gives you a chance to escape the busy city life. You can probably enjoy it any time of the year but fall seems to be the best season with all the colored leaves. The Ornithology Center is worth a visit because of the nice display of preserved local birds and a few living local residents (owls and hawks). The feeding area can be seen very nicely from the inside through the large windows and every moment there are other birds stopping by for a quick meal.

This is a very nice park with a few interesting things to do and see. However, compared to other parks I have seen it is certainly nice but not something that would captivate my attention all that much.

Eagle Creek is a beautiful park located on the Northwest side of Indianapolis. There are lots of hiking trails and a new zipline that is very challenging. You have to make reservations way in advance it is so popular.

Go Ape is the new zipline adventure at Eagle Creek Park and it is a blast! We took my father-in-law for his 70th birthday (he's in pretty good shape for 70) and everyone had a blast. The staff was helpful and friendly and the course was a lot of fun. I can't wait until my kids are old enough to go! We had some people with us who were afraid of heights, but with all the safety measures you take, they got over their fears pretty quickly.

Beautiful park with lake and hiking trails. Amayzing to find this so close to downtown! Worth the 10 minute drive north. Don't miss this beautiful place. Leaves were at peak and it was so beautiful.

I have gone to this park most of my life. It is the third largest city park in the US and is easily accessed from two seperate gates 56th St and 71st St. They had a great Nature Center, and an Orinthology center. The hiking is great. The biking is great, and the fishing, and boating are, as well! If you look you will see deer and plenty of other wildlife. They do have fitness trails too!
