Our family had a great afternoon at the museum. Our children are in MS and HS and we wondered if they would enjoy cold day inside. They did all of the experiments and had to make several airplanes before one would fly. We have some great pictures of our visit...milking the cow and playing with the bubbles.

Excellent place for kids to learn and have fun. Lots of exhibits on 3 floors for all ages. They have some interesting exhibits that I've not seen in children's museums in much larger cities, i.e. Dallas/Boston/Salt Lake City - The tree house with air guns is a blast, and surrounding yourself with a giant soap bubble is great fun. You can easily spend 2 to 4 hours here. Parking tip - the 2 hour side street parking is monitored by meter maids but they quit at 4:30pm, so if you park (or move your car) by 2:30 or later you're good! Entry fee is very reasonable - $7 each for my son and I.

We were able to get in for free because of our membership with the hometown children's center. Even if we had to pay, the price was reasonable. The facility is not big but both my 6 year old son and us the adults enjoyed it very much. We spent two hours just on the first floor alone. The best feature has to be the air guns and the tree house.

So many things to do for the kids there. A place to eat, lots of things to learn. Farm equipment to sit in and ply with. It even has simulated equipment.

I like the fact it presents simple explanations of things found in the local area, such as farming. I like the open floor plan that allows parents to be a little more hands-off and out of reach than at most childrens' museums. I have heard there are already plans to expand and renovate to include more displays and learning opportunities, I will update once those are done.

Yes, it's true, Indianapolis has a much larger museum for a comparable price about an hour and a half from Terre Haute, but this museum is a great place to visit in this town. Lots of interactive exhibits for kids, plenty of education to go around, and very near to the downtown lodging. For my money, this is the best family attraction in Terre Haute.

I understand it's not necessarily a fair comparison, but when I finally visited the new facility a couple months ago I was not impressed. For the amount of space they have now, there is not that much to do. Pretty sad considering the amount of money that went into it. The facility itself is way nicer than the old one and a benefit to downtown now, which we need, but there's not much there for the cost (we were there for a free event) and there is a distinct lack of parking (everything behind it is for the neighboring hotel as far as I could tell). Our boys have always enjoyed going to the one in Indy.

We love this museum and love that it is close to home. There is something for everyone, regardless of age. Everything is hands-on and we look forward to visiting often.

My husband and I took our 6 children to the children's museum..age ranges are 2 yrs-14 yrs. Every one of them had a great time..it took us about 2.5 hrs to go through the entire museum..there are 3 levels. Lots of hands on activities..treehouse was awesome! All 6 kept going back to that. Great price..$7 for adults as well as children. We will def visit n the future!

During a family reunion weekend our group of 10 which included grandparents, adult children and spouses and 4 grandkids aged 13 to 8 years visited the Children's Museum. We parked on the street but a parking garage was only 1 block away. Exhibits and activities captivated everyone's attention. Everyone had a turn at being encapsulated in a bubble and each designed a paper airplane launched from the third floor to the ground level. The tree house was a big hit. As with most museums of this nature, it is helpful for adults to join in and "play" so the children better understand the exhibit they are looking at. We also had lots of fun with the green screen. We were there almost three hours and felt we got our money's worth.

The Children's Museum has never failed to engage the nieces and nephews we have taken we they visit Terre Haute. Regardless of age, there is something that intrigues them. And sure enough, after we have left for the day, there is always the request to return again.

We took our grandchildren, ages 10, 6, 4 to the Terre Haute Childrens Museum while they were with us during their spring break. There were three floors of great things for them to do. Lots of hands on activities. Places for me to relax and watch them play. Not as large as Indy Childrens Museum, but much easier for me to keep track of where they were.

I was excited when the museum first opened, but there are a few glaring problems. One, the price for what you get doesn't even come close in comparison to that of the Indianapolis Children's Museum. Within 2-3 hours my kids, age 7 and 9, are done here. Two, the lack of dedicated parking here is deplorable!! You have the option to park on the city street (which has a 2 hour limit) and often requires circling the block in vain, repeatedly, hoping to find an empty space. And please believe me when I tell you that the local parking police will, indeed, happily write you a ticket. The other option which the museum staff suggest after telling you to park on the street, is to head to the parking garage a couple blocks away, pay, (as the museum does not validate so that you can park for free) and then walk back. Three, many times exhibits are broken or malfunctioning. Dollar for dollar I'd recommend making a day of it at the huge, and always changing, museum in Indianapolis. My last trip here was as a chaperone for my daughter's field trip, as I will not pay to go here, even though I live in Terre Haute.

Nice place to take the kids. 3 levels but there's only one staircase to each level so it's easy to keep track of runners.

For a town the size of Terre Haute, this is a pretty good way to spend an afternoon with small children. As is the case with most children's museums, I wouldn't recommend for most kids over age 7 or 8.
