This is a beautiful greenway near the heart of the city. There are many places to park and start your walk. The greenway is paved and much of it is at water level, so when there is a lot of rain some sections will be inaccessible. However there are two levels in those areas so you just take the high road. Very pleasant for walking, biking, strolling, running, and since it's in an urban area you could walk to do errands, play or picnic at Freedom Park, hit the King's Drive Farmer's Market, visit Trader Joe's or Target, etc. Plus, it's beautifully landscaped with nice seating areas, a restroom or two along the way, bike racks, and more. It is one of my favorite greenways.

Nice trail through this part of Charlotte - great view of the skyline and a chance to see birds and deer as you run/walk!

Connected to Freedom park, it is back to nature in the middle of the city. Walk or ride bikes. Smokers from the hospital are a little annoying. Other than that, a nice experience, and it is free.

A first trip to Charlotte, NC included a great morning stroll along the Little Sugar Creek Greenway - a superb example of how cities can revitalize through "greening" their spaces. It's incredible that a few years ago the area that is now a lovely paved walkway by a creek, with birdlife and trees, was a PAVED PARKING LOT. Truly! Congratulations to the far-sighted people of Charlotte to make this investment, giving residents and visitors a wonderful place to stroll. There are plenty of benches along the way, and even shops to while away a little time or refresh with a beverage if you need one. The path meanders along the creek, under bridges, and has only a little up and downhill - so great for young bikers or old knees! We started our walk at the Captain James Jack Statue at Fourth and King Streets - and learned a little bit about Charlotte's history by reading the info at this exciting horse and rider in bronze. Nearby there are also lovely large wooden swings to rest your feet. Charlotte was a treat, and finding this greenway made it even better!

Just a little gem in Charlotte, grey place to walk/run/bike/ or just people watch!! weekends do get a little crowded but regulars know that certain parts of the greenway almost never see any traffic.

Walking is my main exercise activity. So this fits the bill for me. I can walk miles and not mess with cars or traffic. I can walk through a park and also end up at a restaurant or Trader Joes. Only down side is on the weekends it gets busy with families on bikes..so watch out for the little ones.

We went on the greenway thru the Segway experience. What a little gem this is. One would not expect this clean and safe Greenway near a major city like Charlotte. Take your friends or your entire family and enjoy.

Decided to write another updated review. The Greenway is still a great place to enjoy the outdoors/workout/get some fresh air. Came here to run/sprint and is just how a small pathway should be. Would recommend coming here.

Located right in 'Uptown' Charlotte...this is a wonderful place to just park the car and get out and walk. You will see the Charlotte skyline and enjoy a quite creek and a nice paved walkway. I usually enter from near the Trader Joe's store...lots of parking and a nice selection of shops for lunch or dinner.

We rode bikes, but you are able to walk the greenway. It is mostly flat and easy to ride. We have done it a few times and always have a good time.

While visiting Charlotte on business my husband and I entered to run a 5K on the Greenway. I have to say it was a beautiful running route. Fairly flat. Lots of runners, bikers and roller bladers utilizing the path. Wish my community in Maine had something like this for folks to run or walk on. Bravo Charlotte, for bringing such beautiful recreational area to your community!

For a place that was completely covered by Kings Drive, it has turned into a beautiful, serene spot just outside of downtown Charlotte. You have to start out by the Capt Jack statue and go toward Morehead Drive. It won't take long and you forget you were ever in downtown. Please do stop by and see the side attractions like the St Mary's Chapel and Mecklenburg Vietnam Memorial. If you are into walking, you will not be disappointed.

This is a work in progress and what a difference it has made in certain areas of Charlotte. You can walk, bike, rollerblade, etc. or just sit and watch the walkers, rollerbladers, etc. They have taken an area that was nothing more than a dirty, polluted creek and turned it into a thing of visual pleasure. When you see it, you just want to park your car and experience it.

My boys enjoyed the hiking through the Greenway. I sat under a shady tree on a picnic bench and read my book, thinking the hike would be too much for me. As it turns out, they said it was very easy and actually well paved, with the path going through a beautiful neighborhood. I saw a number of runners and people who appeared to be casually walking through. There is a great playground and 3 picnic tables too. No public restroom, just a port a potty!
