If you are visiting the Wilmington area and an avid trail runner, you are somewhat out of luck, as the city has little dirt for running enthusiasts. However if you are willing to travel a bit out of the way (20 min from downtown) and invest in some insect spray (spring and summer months) you will be pleasantly surprised with this gem of a park. There are four main trails and if you run them in a loop it is just about 9 miles. Trails are VERY well marked and shaded. You will find your share of roots and rocks, but no major uphills or downhills, just simple rollers. These trails are also frequented by mountain bikers, so on Gator Trail and the pump track, just make sure you are riding in the same direction if the parking lot is full and there are a lot of folks out riding. Dogs are welcome at the park, but have to be on a leash. There are also bathrooms, a hose and a bike stand at the main parking area.

This is a fairly new park. Great for Hiking, Bicycle, Canoe and Kayak. Many trails and a canoe/kayak ramp. Has a small restroom. Picnic tables and benches for resting. No motorized ATV allowed.
