If you enjoy primitive art and have a sense of adventure, Mary's Gone Wild is a must! As you drive by, you'll wonder "WHAT IN THE WORLD?" - but - be courageous and pull on in. There's SO MUCH to see, some of which is art, but there's also antiques and 'stuff' I can't even describe. There's even a bottle house, boat, and wishing well (with donations going toward a children's charity). Who knows, you might even run in to MARY, herself, and chatting with her is worth the stop; she been featured in the Smithsonian Magazine. Prices are high - but it's original art work! One word of warning...give yourself an extra dousing of bug spray.

If you are planning a stay at Holden Beach, NC you have to put aside some time to visit Mary's folk art "garden". Some may call it junk but I plan on buying a couple of her painted windows (for our sun room) before we head home from this trip. We discovered it by driving down the road one day three years ago and I caught a glimpse of it out of the corner of my eye. We did a U-turn and went back and parked the car. The only problem is you don't know where to start. Everywhere you look there is strangeness, wonderment, and fun " I-can't-believe-she-made-that " object. If you are looking for a one of a kind piece of art, please, stop by Mary's and just start looking. She is open all but one day of the year
