I brought my 10 year old nephew to Tiger World and was floored by the amazing time we had. I went in not knowing what to expect. The animal exhibits are very up close and personal. The employees were all very kind and very knowledgeable about all of the animals and their personal stories. Even when my nephew asked a million questions they were very patient and kind. We even watched the animals during their feed time and that was a great experience as well! I highly recommend everyone to visit Tiger World!

Visited with snow on the ground so the walking was a bit rough, but well worth the effort! This place is small, but appears to be very well maintained. Animals looked healthy and there were many obvious efforts to provide environmental stimulation and enrichment.I definitely plan to return; a warm spring day would be the perfect time to visit!

We go a few times a year. The staff is very nice, they do a lot and have a lot of volunteers that do the gardening and some maintenance and painting. I read the bad reviews and don't understand some. They do not breed here...they only take in animals that are from bad situations, like hoarders or those that shouldn't have animals. Yes they are kept in cages, but the cages in the back are HUGE! It isn't like this place goes out and buys these animals. Most times they are contacted to take them from other places. They have turned a tennis court into a Bear habitat. In the past 2.5 years I've been going here they have come a long way from where it started. They took it over. If you go on Sunday and see the animals pacing that is because they do NOT feed on Sundays and the animals pace (I think Wednesdays too but they are closed that day) waiting for lunch. If you can go during a feeding which is around 11am it is a pretty cool site. I have never seen the people in with the large animals (only the cubs in the front attached to the admissions office). Even when feeding they have to get the food over the fence (which can be comical watching them try and hurl the chickens over the fence) or they put it though a pass through on the ground or the animals get locked in a small section while they put the food on a surface. Go and you'll see how they do it.And the baboon that is there...HE does get excited by certain women. He could careless about me, but he LOVES our friend. He is who he is and he would be excited and anxious no matter who is looking at him and saying anything. It is a visual thing...no one has their arm around our friend and we are not taunting him but he is going nuts at the sight of our friend.The month of January if you bring in your clean everygreen christmas tree (no tinsel or flocking or ornaments) they will give you free admission. If you can't go right then they will give you a voucher to come back for free. We took in 3 trees and since there was only 2 of us we got a free voucher.

The facility is smaller than most zoos you will find, but the staff is nice and the animals are well taken care of. Some of the facility was being remodeled/ added onto which made me feel good about their operation. If you want to see some great animals up close, then this is the place you need to see. Be sure to see the wolves they are introducing. They are pretty cool too.

If you are an animal/zoo enthusiast, then this is a trip for you! The zoo keeps tigers, lions, leopards, two wolves, two bears, reptiles, and various birds. Most of the animals are rescued, so it makes you feel really good when you see how well the staff cares for them and how content they are. We were in the middle of the lion section when they all started roaring. It was very exciting! We will definitely go back.

We visited during the Halloween season and loved all the great decorations. it took about 2 hours to see it all but the animals all looked healthy and very well cared for. It was the closest I've ever been to a tiger! We lucked out and it was feeding time (about 11 am on a Saturday) which meant all the animals were very active. You can bring in food but my only complaint was there was no cafe or restaurant. We would definitely go there again.

Went no knowing what to expect how I was surprised and how much we enjoyed being up close with animals. Understanding that many animals have been in tough situations I applaud their efforts to save and rehab so many beautiful animals. Worth the trip

The customer service was excellent, the grounds very clean and the animals relaxed. It was a very enjoyable couple of hours

lots of tigers and monkeys and you can see up close. People say when there are cubs you can pet them!

It was fascinating to be able to be close to the Tigers, and other animals. If you love seeing exotic animals and being up close this is the place to go. Better close up than what you would see at Disney's animal kingdom. Looking forward to another visit next time when they open up Australlian section.

My husband and I visited Tiger World for the first time August 15 and we enjoyed our visit tremendously. I had researched their website thoroughly before we went and found out the reason Tiger World is in existence. When seeing the real thing, we were both hooked. We adopted a white lion and a white tiger. As a result of the adoption of these animals we were eligible for season passes, one visit to behind the scenes with the animals, and a guest pass. All of the animals at this sanctuary are well taken care of and are not in habitats alone. The staff is informative and friendly.Tiger World does not get state funds like other state run Zoos. As stated on their website, they are a non-profit entity. Therefore, Tiger World relies on funds given to them. Also, the animals at this sanctuary are very large and it takes a lot of money to take of their complete needs which again are results of the kindness of others. No, Tiger World does not have the bells and whistles of the "National Zoo" but it wasn't meant to be. Due to the compassion and the caring of the founder and president of this sanctuary, these fortunate and beautiful creatures have a forever home. In the Media/News section of Tiger World's Website, it is well documented how this animal conservative was a wish that became a reality. Anyone should be applauded for such compassion.We have told many friends and relatives about our visit and have recommended they adopt an animal of their choice. My husband and I were/are so excited about our adoptionwe returned to Tiger World two days later. The staff had already put the walls up to a new enclosure for several of their precious animals. Rowan County is blessed to have this animal sanctuary in their county. We would whole heartedly recommend Tiger World to all animal lovers.

We took our 2 year old grandson to Tiger World and he had a great experience. It is a small "zoo" with rescued wild animals. There are bears, tigers, lions, monkeys, birds etc. A comfortable walk around the area allows you to view the animals closely. I recommend allowing about an hour of time to see all of the animals. It is a great way to spend an afternoon.

We went to Tiger World mid-week with our children, ages 16 to 28, plus our son-in-law and 16-month-old grandson. Everyone enjoyed our time there. They have everything from parrots to lions. Most of the animals are in outdoor enclosures that were small enough to allow us to see every animal, but large enough to allow the animals room to roam. Many of the animals have been rescued from situations where they were mistreated. The buildings and enclosures are simple, but everything is well-maintained.We brought a picnic lunch which we ate at one of the many tables available. Including our meal, we were there for about two hours.We have many wonderful photos and many happy memories!

This is a great, relatively small, animal refuge with lots of different animals. Not huge, so even elderly people can visit without too much effort. Visited last year, and we're planning to go again in a couple of weeks. If you go on Thurs nights, you can watch as they feed the animals and explain the history of each one. Several were previously "pets"....... whose owners just couldn't provide the appropriate care, etc. Sad that people who have no idea of the care and responsibility for these animals try to make pets out of these beautiful wild animals. At certain times of the year, you can feed some of the baby animals. Since last year, they've made several improvements to the animal enclosures that we're looking forward to seeing.

My daughter loves cats of all sizes, so she decided we needed to see Tiger World. The cats are truly big, and beautiful. But there are more than tigers. Wolves, bears, monkeys, lions, and more. The work the caregivers do for and with these animals is amazing. All volunteers, taking care of emotionally and physically "damaged" animals. Definitely an amazing sanctuary to visit.
